TMNT & Other Paramount Movies Allegedly Part Of Massive Tax Fraud

TMNT & Other Paramount Movies Allegedly Part Of Massive Tax Fraud
A new report says ViacomCBS’s Paramount Pictures has used an elaborate strategy to avoid paying U.S. taxes on its entertainment properties.
https://screenrant.com/tmnt-paramoun...fraud-details/

Lots of Legal-ese gobbeldygook in there. Long story short, "Big Corporation Cheats the Government; Grass Green, Water Wet." But I figured it's relevant because TMNT is specifically cited as part of Viacom's massive tax evasion scheme.

EDIT: Can a Mod please fix the spelling of "Paramount" in the thread title? Thanks in advance.

Interesting. I was just about to post this.

I feel like a major scandal is about to brew within the entertainment/media industry.

CNBC covered this story. They are not labeling this as tax fraud, it seems more like a loophole they took advantage of.

This just seemed appropriate to post here:

Funny, this seems like something that was more likely to have happened during the franchise's fledgling years when all the international licenses were a nebulous hodgepodge. One would think ViacomCBS would be savvy enough to get away with corruption and "tie up the loose ends" when necessary.

I could have sworn this was all something a few years ago, like when the Paramount movies were actually contemporary? Or was that some other legal trouble with Viacom?

Anyway, what really is the threshold with a company before they're allowed to get away with not paying taxes? Is it at all consistent?
