Back when I was a big Bionicle fan, one of their principal writers would interact with the big public forum before Lego told him he couldn't do that anymore.

To answer the question on this thread, Yes, I think the same type of people are killing those threads by saying asinine things.

When you see that, just ignore it and continue on with the topic, never let anyone try to derail it, cause the moment that happens, you can always get the mods to fix it, there's always that 90% chance the thread will be closed.

It's what would happen if people can't be civil.

This sort of thing is the reason I mostly only post in the toy and comic sections anymore. A senior member who is highly respected in this fan community and I had a phone conversation about these boards once where he made the point to me that many of you will rip into a little kid on these boards just for liking an aspect or universe of TMNT that you don't care for; I know most of you aren't horrible people but nevertheless you all like to be elitist ***** to one another for some reason. Wouldn't it be a more productive use of your time to try to respectfully disagree about things?

I'm pretty sure snake is one of the youngest people here, (he's 14), and he's more mature than a lot of the 20-30 year olds on this forum.

I seriously thought snake was at least 16 or so even back when he first appeared here, I had no idea he was so young.
