Jay and Silent Bob Reboot

With Mallrats & Clerks 3 cancelled Kevin Smith is making Jay and Silent bob reboot. (literal title) apparently he has everyone on board already, including Miramax. https://www.instagram.com/p/BQToHbElEhV/

I'm actually more interested in this than Clerks 3 or Mallrats 2. But after watching the awful Yoga Hosers... I'm not sure.

I would have been happy about this years ago but Kevin Smith movies have been garbage recently.

If anything has a chance at somewhat redeeming him, it's this.

What happened to Moosejaws?

At first I was about to gripe about how we've had enough reboots, but then I got to thinking how funny it'd be to see Kevin Smith do a sort of "Bebop and Rocksteady Destroy Everything" type story involving alternate realities but with his characters in the film Dogma. Sadly the late Alan Rickman is no longer with us, so even if they were to do this his role as the archangel Metatron would either be recast or written out completely, and to be honest I'd prefer the latter since it would be extremely difficult to find somebody who can pull off Rickman's unique personality.

I've only seen Clerks, Mallrats and Strike Back once. Haven't seen Clerks 2.

This sounds funny. I like when movies or TV poke fun at Hollywood. There's a difference between that and people who just complain on the internet. I like that gif.

Based on what I've watched of Zack and Miri Make a Porno and Cop Out, I feel that he's losing it. Seth Rogen apparently introduced him to drugs which would explain his "not give a **** what he makes" mentality. People lit up his twitter wanting this dude to direct Affleck's Batman film.

I actually never got Yoga Hosers in my theaters but based on the trailers, I doubt I missed much. Was that even a horror film or a dark comedy starring millennial teenagers.

I heard both Red State and Tusk were awful.

He literally said he "doesn't make movies for audiences anymore." He has succeeded.

And yeah, you can make flowchart of Kevin Smith's films, and the "still trying to make a good movie" line nosedives after Zack and Miri. The only thing that changed was his weed intake.

I saw it the other day. It's not funny, it's not scary, it's not anything.

They were. Red State could have been at least sort of good... the moment when you hear the horns near the end. For a moment, I thought it was going to be this, "Holy sh*t... they were right!" moment, with God actually appearing (hey, maybe Alanis Morisette could have reprised the role) and saving the religious whackos and smiting everybody else. That would have been ballsy and unexpected. As was, just laaame. Painfully boring.

I've never seen Copout.

Kevin Smith is evidence that people on drugs shouldn't make movies.

Seriously, Nazi sausages? WTF doesn't even come close to it.

I didn't even realize they were supposed to be Nazis until they show the flashbacks. It just looked like they were full of glowing yellow rice when they were being killed.

No suspense. You knew there was no chance any of the butt gnomes would be going up the girls' butts.

Say what you will, but I absolutely adore his more recent films. Red State, Tusk, and Yoga Hosers were all so strange and different they were oddly hypnotic. I love how different they are from the standard formula you're used to seeing and I love his mentality of "No one else will ever make this, so I will." For all his successes, he's actually kind of returned to the indy spirit of filmmaking in his later years. I love it. Can't wait for Moosejaws.

Oddly, I actually think Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is the least re-watchable of all his movies. I loved it when I was a teenager but as I got older its just kind of became cringe-worthy. A couple of golden jokes aside.

Oh, what a lovely tea party.

I bet Moose Jaws never happens. He hasn't even mentioned it in over a year.

I didn't mind it, though I didn't like when he got too silly. I don't like when they break the fourth wall, or bring in unbelievable, larger than life characters like Will Ferrell's sheriff or whatever. Jay and Silent Bob work best when they're surrounded by completely normal people.

Same can be said for the likes of Beavis and Butt-head or Lloyd and Harry from Dumb and Dumber, but at the same time I kinda enjoy it when these kinds of characters gets themselves involved in absurd situations. Honestly, what's more enjoyable, seeing Jay and Silent Bob annoying patrons and employees at a convenience store or watching them help a lady and group of non-mortal beings stop 2 angels from eradicating all of existence?

You're telling me. The three boys and the daughter of Cooper's daughter all died in the most idiotic way I've ever seen. This is not a horror film. It's a lowbrow suspense movie that has no payoff.

Between this and Yoga Hosers, I doubt Tusk is any better.

Tusk is probably the best of those three. In that it's the only one that feels like it knows what it is and executes that.
