So basically... no steps forward and 2 steps back?

Nah.

I'm pretty sure any live action movie is canned now, even prior to Covid-19.

TMNT is dead for the next few years, we aren't getting anything besides the rise film that's already been finished for likely a year. I'm ok with tmnt taking a long break of a few years.

They did trademark something new called 'The Next Chapter', but who knows what that is, and when it'll come out.

Tbh, I would be okay with a TMNT break. I feel Rise Of came way too quickly.

Feels like we've been on a TMNT break forever now. I mean, I guess that's just because not much of it has appealed to me. Quite honestly, The Last Ronin makes this the most exciting moment as a TMNT fan I've had in a while. The initial acquisition phase was pretty fun, and I was overall impressed with what Nick and IDW were able to do...all things considered, but I fell off those early and it's pretty much been a drought before then and since then.

Detective Pikachu/Sonic are not even CG, they're live action. Spider-Man into the Spiderverse might be the only good choice you have there (unsure haven't seen the movie) but definitely not the rest.
But they aren’t complete comedies like Despicable Me, at least.

Kubo was stop-motion, but still rather recent. Spark just sucked.
