Interesting, a $4.99 one-shot? I'm intrigued even if it is pricey for what is essentially a toy advertisement.

There's a Shredder-themed cereal and it's NOT called "Shreddered Wheat"... C'MON!

Some of these oddball specials IDW has put out have been surprisingly enjoyable. I wasn't expecting to enjoy the Carmelo Anthony crossover as much as I did, and Deviations was pretty cool, too. Their MegaBloks toy tie-in was 100x better than it needed to be, too.

So I'll give this one a chance, for sure. Funko Pops, though. Man. Those things are like weeds. I have, like, 3 of them and I don't know how they got in my house.

Why on earth would anyone draw a comic book cover with a binary brush?

so

What you have linked here is the entire set of Funko Universe comics, TMNT, ghost busters, x files... And it lists the plot to the tmnt one which sounds kinda silly but wanna read it.

There is a kindle version listed of just the TMNT one for 4.99 ans drops in may.

I think I need someone to explain why Funko toys are great. I never saw the appeal.

I'm a bit on the ignorant side here. Is that a digital art technique? What method would you recommend instead?

I think he's referring to the black inks. They look a bit pixelated/jagged. That could be due to low resolution or not working in a larger size. Generally, comic artists will work 11x17 but then is reduced to typical comic size when it goes to print. Reducing it will also give the edges a slight blurred edge which makes it look more smooth.

The binary pen (or brush) is the kind of digital lines you'd typically see coming from Microsoft Paint, for example. Pixelated. Looks like complete butt on paper if not in the proper resolution, because when resized, it blurs, & its jaggedness becomes more apparent.

Traditional lines can wind up looking like that when there's too much contrast on the scan, but this is clearly a digitally drawn cover. I'm 100% sure they used a binary pen in SAI or its equivalent in Photoshop (I think it's called Pencil in that program).

I like where this is headed! Stupidity appropriate for the source material! And I appreciate the reference "push the Techondrome out of whatever it happens to be stuck in this week."

Looks fun! Like that Mega Bloks issue, looks like it'll provide a good story despite the kinda weird setting. I only hope my comic shop orders me one this time...
