If there's only two things I know, it's this:
1. Kirk over Picard. 2. Scott Steiner HATES Fat Asses. You absolutely can't have a thread about "outrage" without Big Poppa Pump. He's perpetually outraged.

Kirk couldn't have survived in the 24th century. He could barely make peace with the Klingons, and you expect me to believe he could bury the hatchet and work with both Romulans and Klingons against the Dominion and the Cardassians? Or that Kirk could last more than five seconds against the Borg Collective?
GTFO, man. Kirk's history. He's awesome, but he's history.

And Scott Steiner should be ashamed of himself. Stop fat shaming people, ya loser!

If you look at it from a broad perspective, the 24th (and 22nd!) shows gave us far more interesting characters than the 23rd century ever did. Spock and a bunch of humans... versus Worf, Data, Q, Kira, Dukat, Dax, Quark, Nog, Odo, Seven, the Doctor, Phlox, Shran, and T'Pol. Plus a bunch of humans and other Klingons. But no, let's keep rebooting Kirk and Spock.

This is pretty much how I feel about mainstream comics as well.
But really what it is, is creators who've finally gotten to the place where they can play with the Big Toys wanting to recreate the stories they wish had been told when they were kids.

An actual reboot where the characters were brought back as the main cast was only done once in the new movies. (so far as TV, I didn't even know they had comics) Do you mean that the shows still tie to them? I haven't watched Discovery but isn't Spock connected there?
So... I like the characters of something that was the Original version of a franchise....and I'm still in the minority on here (though I think there are only few ST fans on here?) I do like next gen and it's close with captains but I'd still choose Kirk if I had to. Last edited by newfan; 08-24-2018 at 11:12 AM. |

[QUOTE=Andrew NDB;1774824]Yeah, it stars Spock's sister. And Sarek. And now Enterprise and Pike and Spock himself in season 2.[/QUOTE
Well they have all his family. While I love Spock I still don't feel in a race to see this (given what I've read on here ), but should take a look really. |

Correction. I start to agree or disagree with whatever is being said. then the people I ignore start arguments I don't see until someone quotes it and then the thread gets locked somehow ;o). I agree on star trek (uh oh, the start of it! ) . All this nostalgia bait has long since lived passed it's usefull ness. especially since 98% of the people doing it don't appreciate what they've been told they need to respect in order to bring fans in.... hence, in name only.

And that right there is the 2nd main reason I haven't watched Disco all the way through yet. I really don't like the Klingon designs as they are in the first few episodes. They just look...far too bulky to be at all practical.
(The first being that I've no real interest in giving CBS money, and haven't had enough free time to just mainline the entire show during the free 30 day trial.) If you're going to have something set in early Trek timelines, then you're bound to have Spock's family pop up, so I don't mind Spock showing up, his family is really prominent. It's just, these legacy characters should show up about as much as Vimes does in the Moist von Lipwig Discworld books. Which I realize is a reference that very few people will get, but its still the best one I've got on hand at the moment.

The Klingons are said to be fixed in season 2. We will see other clans in it that look like real Klingons and they claim this was always the intent... even though we see a scene with representatives from ALL Klingon clans in season 1 and they all look bald and weird like the rest of them.

I love the ghosting, but let the record show:
Vegetable snipes, Sumac pontificates some of his Putin approved bollocks, at some point Plastron drops her 2 cents, Fred wolf Leo decides we're against his god, Cure tells us we need jesus from the ER. CylonsKlingonsDaleksOhMy tries out some material he thinks is fun, it blows, Indigo earth tries to have a normal, sensible conversation, and Andrew feigns interest, but worries we'll take his guns away, so slides alongside the vegetable. 656 tries to be relevant every 2 years. More like that. |

Same. I'll probably shell out the money when the Picard show happens. Till then, I'm still cranking through my list on Netflix...

I guess that's one of the nice things about STD is that outside of US it's available on Netflix, still not seen a single episode of it yet.
