Got mine from this guy... seems to have raised the prices a bit on his goods.

At least the Neca TMNT anyway.

Yes that's him; cool1199

HE ADMITS THEY WERE MADE THIS YEAR !!!! THEY ARE PRODUCING NECA TMNTS !!! ILLEGALLY???

He sent me a message today:

"Hi! This figure is not a second or counterfeit. When did you bought your other 2 figures? Our figures produce on 2011. I think your figures produce on 2008. so there are little difference. If you don't like this figure, you can send back it for a full refund. If you want to keep it, I can refund USD8.5 to you. What do you think? Thanks!"

Cheers dude, that helps a lot.

Can you tell me WHEN the TMNT line retired? I think it was the end of 2009, but I need to be sure in order to get my refund from this guy... $8.50 is all he offered me... I paid $4 on the "secure box" and insurance... so who is insured? me or him? I should be insured for damage! Basically he'll be giving me a £2 refund, NOT GOOD!

He said it was made THIS year, that in itself is enough to convince eBay that he's selling dodgy goods. But I need to prove it.

Silly question: Does the hardness of the front shell affect the articulation? I know there's a joint under the shell.

there is no waist joint, and yes it does interfere with the legs. He tends to stand more upright because of this.

Mine has the line where the ab crunch would be on a normal figure, but he does not want to bend there at all... judging from the overall shady nature of the figure, I'm kind of scared it would break if i pushed too hard.
I dare say that the hardness of the shell plastic would effect articulation though... either that or you'd have a broken plastic plastron.

Edit: just noticed more paint on my finger after trying to make him bend at the waist again... OH BOY.

I've emailed NECA regarding their tmnt line to see if they've authorized any 2011 production of the toys. Once they confirm, I'll report these con-artists. It's not fair and the fact they want me to believe it's a genuine, first class neca is unreal.

Is that really necessary? Maybe some of us don't care that they're bootleg. & why would you want to do them any favors when they never produced the rest of the line after dangling the figures in our faces? They wouldn't even give straight answers about the reason why. F*ck those guys. If someone wants to make dough off of 'em, that's fine by me. If anything, just make a disclaimer thread so people here know what they're dealing with. Well, I guess that's what this thread is. Nevermind.

I knew right off the bat they were selling bootlegs. Alot of people didn't believe me but being a Pokemon and Dragonball collector myself, I can tell you 98% of the stuff coming out of Hong Kong and Malaysia is bootleg. Simple as that. And if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

I had a feeling when all the NECA in tubes starting showing up on e-bay, and they were
all from China they might be bootlegs. But I have to agree with Powder, I hate the way
NECA treated the fans.

China doesn't recognize copyright laws, and eBay never takes down reported items, so reporting them is pointless. And, like Powder said, is it really that big of a deal? NECA screwed this up for themselves; let people get the figures for an affordable price. I like the idea of using them for customizing.

If China wants to bootleg series 2, I would support that 1000%.

Then again, do they have the original NECA molds for the Turtles, or did they "reverse engineer" them, you think?

They probably have the originals. A lot of the bootleg stuff that comes out of China (everything, not just action figures) is made "after hours" with all of the original molds and patterns, though not with the same quality of materials (or general quality control).

Ahh, so what are the odds they have the April and Foot/Shredder molds?
