That's a huge source of irony for me too - lots of collectors playing criticisms that aren't aligned to a product line. I mean - if some of these guys have money to drop on Hot Toys (which I have many of) then why push that envelope instead of getting into statues (which I have many of)? Because they are different things.

You've got to look at what the product is supposed to be. It's like McFarlane toys junk for decades - basically making plastic or PVC statues with one moving arm and calling it a "toy". It fit some audience, right?

I'll be the BST AXN line has a better chance of roping kids into TMNT again than Playmates does....
I get that, though — I'm on the same page with you as far as it's meant to be a cheaper line. I mean, yeah, it's literally cheaper than NECA or S7, but they're nearly as expensive as, say, Star Wars Black Series figures, but those figures are both larger and considerably better.

So the thing is, they don't price BST AXN like the cheaper line they are, they're not marketed like a cheaper line, and every time I've seen them they've been in the collectibles section rather than the toy aisle. So they need to either step up their game or lower their price so they can fit into kid-toy budgets.

I don't think they shouldn't exist, they just need to either have their quality match their price, or their price match their quality. They're too expensive to be a 5" kid toy line, and they're too poorly made to be a collector line. They don't have to be glorified statues.

And I'm well aware of the irony in the fact that I'm griping over what, a $6-8 disparity in price vs my perceived value, on toys that I'm honestly not likely to buy at any price point, when I'll turn around and pay $40 or whatever NECA charges for their upcoming Usage in a heartbeat, the whole time thinking it should've been cheaper as well Maybe I'm just becoming a grumpy, old a**hole lol

Agreed on all points - except for the grumpy old @$$hole thing - I just think that some people in this hobby are perma-children but others see the forest for the trees, man. Those of us who question these price points aren't slaves to the hobby - we're real fans who examine the markets.

So far though I find a lot of the criticism to be too polarizing - it's suspicious - like you'd swear that someone here has a future hinging on this line's release. I'll have some real interpretation when I have these in-hand. Right now they are appealing enough for me to buy and not walk from.

And to your point about pricing - I mean there is a point where the conversation doesn't even matter because only a fool would continue to buy 6" toys at a certain price point, right? So the market settles down to the BST AXN price point and at least has a life and a future.

This is not really a retail line or kid line. These are collector targeted. The Loyal Subjects knows no other way and they are clearly in the adult collectibles section and also piss poor distribution this far. Stop acting like this is some sure thing Playmates substitute.

We have no idea how deep this will go but I would guess - not very. About as deep as their blind box series of TMNT perhaps as far as characters touched on would be my guess. TLS has crap communication, crap marketing.

As far as price you're right. NECA is about to price me out of any of their figures. I need ALF and I need a few more TMNT and then fortunately I'll be at a stopping point and can just give up on new product entirely and get back to the real important stuff - vintage!

I'm actually getting figures as I go (NECA and Super7). I'm somewhat terrified by the idea of going all in on their Gargoyles line as the potential roster could be massive but ....FOMO and the fear of secondary market prices keep me in the system. If NECA (or Todd Mcfarlane) ever makes a proper BTAS line, it's over for me as far as my wallet.

I bought Goliath with the intentions of going all-in, but the price point is awful and I'm definitely going to be roped in to the Archie releases for a while. I've been wishing for those for too long not to.

Yeah I allllmost went in on Gargoyles too, but I was already cutting back on stuff and just had to not let myself get into it. But now I've whittled down my collection to only TMNT, plus a Hot Toys figure of each live action Batman (off topic, but when the hell are they gonna get preorders up for the Pattinson Batman figure?!), and even that is getting cut down more, as I'm about 3-5 figures away from bowing out of the Super7 TMNT line.

Wal-mart pushed my order of the Foot Soldier packs back significantly. I'm wondering if they are going to cancel it long-term.....

Haha, that is hilarious! I never thought I'd see the day when the "flashing" palette of a character would warrant its own action figure. Rocksteady isn't even wearing a game-accurate outfit! I might be interested if the figure actually "flashed" to better mimic the game's look.

That'd actually be a neat idea for a variant in NECA's arcade line... Could cast in a transparent/translucent material and put flashing LEDs inside. I'd at least buy a couple villains in that style to be posed getting hit by one of the Turtles.

Wow, IDW figures? I haven't been watching this line, because I don't love the sculpts, but it's cool to see IDW figures coming from both here and Neca. Keep it going.

Did you actually click the link? It's the same cartoon turtles, Mirage colored, with an IDW comic thrown in.

Those comic book turtles had potential they should've just made them to resemble the books. Solid color maybe some shading could've been dope

Oh, I agree that the figures are poor, but I'm just enamored with the licensing of IDW.

So ... these have been out there to touch and feel and own now for a couple months...

Is anyone going to come back in here and tell us all how fantastic they are, or...were we doubters right? I have seen some in stores and they had some unforgiveable paint derp going on (besides their general sculpt derp).
