Renewed for Season 2 today.

Good to see Disney and Netflix will continue producing new seasons for these shows despite Disney's plan to start its own streaming service.

I'm about halfway through the season. Love Micro, love the DHS agents.

The actual show, though... eh. There's not much in the way of an overarching villain, more of a conspiracy. It's an interesting new format for Marvel Netflix, and I admire them for it, but it's not personally working for me.

There mostly is. It's sort of like a somewhat better executed version of what they did in The Defenders... introduce a big bad (the main CIA spook with the bum eye in Punisher, Sigourney Weaver in Defenders) and have them around for most of the season, then kill them off and it's a showdown with the new main villain (proto-Jigsaw in Punisher, Elektra in Defenders).

Yeah, but the palpable threat for a few episodes isn't an individual identity, it's an idea. Which is interesting, but it's just not hooking me like Cottonmouth, Kilgrave, and Kingpin did.

It's good--the best Punisher we've had--it's just not entirely my wheelhouse.

Ben Barnes is back as Billy, but he will be Jigsaw, even though they don't refer to him under that name in The Punisher Season 2. Additionally, the show didn't go the comic book route to make his face all gruesome. Barnes says, "He very much has a jigsaw puzzle in his brain, is the point. It's not necessarily about his face."

Eh... what? Of course it's about his f***ing face. It's Jigsaw.

In a new report from Collider, we finally learned more about Frank Castle's latest foe for The Punisher Season 2, a character named John Pilgrim played by actor Josh Stewart. The villain has been described as Alt-Right, a term that's associated with white nationalism and extreme conservatives.

It wasn't part of that initial deal, after all. It was something Netflix sought. And Punisher is somewhat disconnected from the bigger "Defenders" stuff.

Jigsaw is way too handsome, even with all the scars on his face. I honestly don't even know why they were hiding his face in the beginning. Like, dude could prolly still get more pie than I can.
