Granted it might not have been in theaters, but it still could have done good or bad when it comes to viewership on TV and how well the DVD's sold after. I know a lot of people dislike it and some people really like it. I personally am somewhere in the middle.

It didn't really get a big release. When "Turtles Forever" premiered (and when I say premiered, I mean shown to myself and like 50 other fans in a private screening in San Diego), the 2009 deal was already in place. Nick/Viacom chose to quietly release it with 0 marketing push.

That's kind of a shame. The best part about that movie to me was probably the ending that took place in the Turtles Prime aka Mirage universe.

They already tried that in 2007. Sucked.
That CG movie really flew under the radar. I mean, it was talked about for a while, but after its debut in cinemas... it's like it never existed. The general audience does not remember it at all. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the lowest grossing TMNT movie ever. Not to mention the fact tons of people didn't know there was a running TMNT cartoon at the time it came out and kept wondering "where are Bebop and Rocksteady? Why no Shredder?"

The Utroms should have been there. The Secret of the Ooze should have been about the mutagen's extraterrestrial origin, like it was supposed to.

I like the FW cartoon and I went to see the film but it's nothing like the FW film so word of mouth must have caught on. Simples.

And because most people who saw the first film weren't that impressed so they didn't see the second, even if it had more FW elements. It was a Micheal Bay film, first and foremost. Regardless, I did like it way more than the first and I do think that there are some good moments (the entire sequence in Brazil for example).

Shredder could've done more than blow up the Channel Six building. I don't mean as far as murdering Splinter, but think of the possibilities if censors were not an issue.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

The first Platinum Dunes films built up a whole new universe, IDW-inspired, which limited it's attempt to be a Fred Wolf-film.

IDW-inspired? Bullsh**. You can't point to one thing in that "film" that was IDW-inspired.

It was essentially the Michael Bay style initiated by the first movie with FW elements shoe horned in. That doesn't work although the end result wasn't for me unwatchable at least compared to the 2014 movie.
