4kids & Nick influences in IDW

The IDW Turtleverse have took many influences from Mirage, Archie, Fred Wolf, the movies and even Next Mutation. But almost none from 4kids, except the (boring) Fast Forward season.

Am I wrong or are there influences from 4kids and Nick in IDW?

What would you like to see here?

I'd like the Ancient One and the Ninja Tribunal, Battle Nexus tournament and that season 7 concept of Ch'rell Shredder Triceraton from 4kids.

Shinigami, Rahzar, kunoichi April, Turtles in space ark, noir feel of the current season from Nick.

Enjoying every moment of IDW. Thank you, team!

???

There's tons of 4kids characters in IDW:

- Hun
- Bishop
- Angel
- Jammerhead/Street Phantoms
- Dunn
- Karai as Shredder's subordinate or related to him (started in 4kids)
- Ch'rell
- Battle Nexus concept was introduced

Most of the 4kids series used Mirage characters which is why it didn't introduce too many new unique characters. And the ones they did were rather unpopular, nobody is begging for the return of Nano or Garbageman.

The only characters I could see them using at some point is Ultimate Ninja or Draco if we have a proper Battle Nexus arc, but that's maybe it.

Yeah, there's tons of 4Kids stuff in IDW. Nothing from the Nick show, though, unless you want to count Pidgeon Pete.

Hun, Bishop, Ch'rell, and Angel are the biggies, plus, of course, all of the Fast Forward stuff we've seen... Darius, Jammerhead, Street Phantoms, Dark Turtles...

Hmm. You are right. Hun and Bishop are from 4kids. Fast Forward characters (Dunn/Phantoms) I've mentioned earlier. Ch'rell indeed. Karai right. I stand corrected...

Wonder why there is nothing from Nick, yet? Maybe because the show is still running. And IDW does the show's comic. So in a few months those characters will be free to use?

There is Nick influence in the designs, at the very least.

But Bobby has said they specifically wanted the two series' to stand apart. As current iterations they need to have their own clearly defined identities, makes sense.

To be honest now that the current Nick cartoon is ending it wouldn't surprise me to see some characters show up in IDW. Also IDW had their Nick animated adventures comics going on at the same time, so they probably figured there's no reason to have them appear in IDW if they had their own comic going.

However with both Nick iterations ending, I wouldn't be surprised if a few of the more notable characters like Tiger Claw or Fishface show up in IDW down the road. Probably after issue 100 I would assume, as stories after that point aren't planned out yet.

Oh, right, that's very true. I've just gotten so used to the Nick designs in IDW that I forgot the designs used to adhere much closer to Mirage (originally) and then Fred Wolf.

C'est la vie.

I would love to see the Garbage Man come back

Is Pigeon Pete the only Nick-based character in the comic or am I forgetting others?

Ugh. Personally speaking I'd rather not have any of that stuff.

IDW's been doing great at adapting things from other versions, but sometimes feels like it could use more original stuff. Which is why I've been loving the recent Pantheon stuff and the new characters like Hakk-R.

I think so.
But, wasn't he always a throw-back to Pete the Pigeon from FW anyways? So he wasn't completely original to Nick.

100% agreed.

Also, the turtle skintones in this series have become 100% 4kids. Sure, 4kids took notes from Playmates on that front, but they didn't exactly match the original toys, just resembled them.

Touch and Go would make wonderfull antagonists, they have huge potential, a shame they weren't used more on 4kids.

They were only in 2 episodes, they were just there to be hired muscle since they worked for Hun.

Sure, decent gimmick though, catchy name. If you can bring back Ace Duck or Mona Lisa, you can bring back them.

I think he's talking about the new intro theme. Otherwise it seems to be the same show as ever, just divided into more multi-parters (that are aired out of order for some stupid reason).

Rahzar will probably show at some point but he'll probably just be a mutant wolf rather than Chris Bradford.

Do mean:
A) My pitch has been accepted.

Or:
B) I swear to the high heavens above, I shall succeed in getting my Tokka and Rahzar story made and published, even it's the last thing I do!

I'd love to see Rahzar/Tokka in IDW. The Tokka design I've seen looks great and completely different than Slash so they can co-exist in the same continuity.
