Do you think it's possible to have a dead Splinter ?in a TMNT show?
Do you guys think it's possible to see a dead Splinter on a TMNT show?I know Ciro wanted to have Splinter dead in the new show and have him return through flash backs of his teachings. Do you think any one would be aloud to do anything like that with approval of the company they work for? Or what conditions would need to happen for this to be approved?

I think the only way they could do it is if he was dead before the show starts telling the story.
Look at how much heat Hasbro took in the 80's for killing Prime in the movie. That was the 80's when the world wasn't so sensitive. |

It could work if done right.
That's pretty much my answer to most things in shows/movies.

Possibly, I can imagine that. But what about wisdom ? Where will the turtles draw wisdom from ? I understand they could remember his teachings, but a time would come when they need specific wisdom.

While not mentioned, it's easy to understand it already happened in the future of 1987 cartoon's "Once Upon a Time Machine"

I don't see any show aimed at a young audience going that route.

Depends on your age route. If for younger kids, that could be impossible unless they want a tone similar to Digimon Tamers where they killed quite a few characters or even Batman: TAS. However, if it aimed for a more teen demographic or young adult demographic, I see it happening. I'd be interested in seeing a main character truly killed.

Splinter actually was dead in the 2003 episode Same As It Never Was and it was mentioned.

Maybe? If the plan is for the show to be short, then I could see that.

I could see a series aimed at older teens and adults where the Turtles are likewise now adults - say mid-20s, or 30s to catch them up with the age of their franchise - and the duration of the series covers some years of their lives after Splinter is gone. If he has died of old age (or however), then set the stage by opening the series just as his funeral is ending and we follow the brothers as they try to go on with their lives without him. Obviously lots of flashbacks and prob there in spirit via dreams or meditation at times.
Now if you want to straight out kill him in an episode and see it... well, good luck. I don't see that happening too easily. |

Absolutely. There's been several instances where the Turtles thought he was dead, so why not make it so sometime? Maybe not right now in the Nick series, but later on or in the next incarnation. It could be rather interesting to see how the the Turtles and co. react to losing their Sensei.

I don't see anyone giving that the OK, be it for the inappropriate nature of death in a children's series, or due to his iconic status as a character.

Of course it could happen, I honestly don't undrestand why anyone would say it's not possible besides their own personal feelings about it. Viacom wouldn't care about it. Of course children can take it, it's happened in many other cartoons. This isn't killing one of the four turtles or April.
Now of course they wouldn't kill on screen Splinter in a fight, or even after a big fight. It'd be more subtle most likely because of "old age" or some disease. |

Nah, too boring.
It's pretty lame in Mirage where Splinter died, it's a downer Splinter died in 2k3 (Same as it never was), it's pretty boring when Splinter was presumed dead in 2k12. So no. |

Let's keep this to canon discussion & not trope-heavy fan projects...

I think it would make for really interesting storytelling. There's a lot that could be explored in the turtles' relationships with each other and Splinter if the story were to open at the point of grief.
