Hocus Pocus 2 being discussion
Bette Middler, SJP, and Kathy N all have expressed desire to make a sequel. The balls in Disney's court. The Chatter started when Middler brought it up at a reddit AMA the other day and SJP and Kathy hopped right on board. What do you think? Hocus pocus is one of my favorite movies. I watch it every Halloween but I don't see how you could do a sequel. it'd have to be set before they were all killed off. and if they did make one I think it woulda been best if it had happened in the 90's. I think it's better off the way it is. There's some things you just don't add onto.

I would be really happy if they did this! I loved the original, and if they want to make another, I'd go see it. I don't know if I'd want it to be a sequel, or a prequel, but either way, I'm in!

Hocus Pocus is the only instance where Sarah Jessica Parker looks good. I guess that really is some black magic.

Eh, I'm a fan of the "leave 'em wanting more" attitude - too many sequels being pumped out just because. Not everything's going to capture the magic of the originals but I'm very burnt out on lackluster sequels and reboots.

I don't know how this would work, so I'd rather they just leave it where it ended since they were pretty much killed off. Only way I could see it working is if somehow they weren't destroyed at the end of the first one and come back or if it's a prequel. I do like the original a lot, but I just don't know if this would work.

I really like the original...but like Mrs. Doubtfire and I thought the sequel was a bad idea. If they can come up with a great story (maybe set it back in 1600's Salem...*shrugs*) I'm game.

Oh gosh no, I was hoping the idea was dead. I loved the film but it had the perfect ending in my opinion.
What are they going to explain with this too? The Witches died for good this flick, sure the book woke up in the credits but they died from real. No spell to leave it on to be continued but..Please no |

Unless a grown-up Thora Birch has a scene where she whips out those monster jugs of hers, there's no reason to do this.
No, Ms. M, "I'm old now and need money" is not a reason. No, SJP, "I've exhausted my mainstream appeal" is not a reason. And no, Ms. Najimy, "They cancelled King of the Hill and they won't release the last two seasons on DVD so I need money from something so I don't have to eat cat food" isn't a reason. That movie's cute - my wife's obsessed with it - but absolutely nothing about it screams for a second one. I mean, just the idea itself literally screams, "We're old and broke". Have some dignity. You're Huge Stars, after all. Well... Huge Stars + Peggy Hill. But still.

Is it weird that I watched the whole thing?
But she already did in American Beauty, and it was fantastic. No need to try and make a sequal of a movie made 20 some years ago riding on the cotails of a movie made 15 years ago

Hocus Pocus is getting a sequel. However, it's not going to be a film instead it will be a book, which is going to be released in time to celebrate the movie's 25th anniversary.

Too bad. I don't really have a horse in this race, but a Hocus Pocus 2 seems like it's as easy to do as Beetlejuice 2. All that makeup and prosthetics, will anyone even really tell they're older? And does that even matter?

The movie will debut on Disney+ in 2022. Anne Fletcher will serve as director and Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy will all reprise their roles.
