I was not planning on opening mine til we move next year, slightly scared that if I wait that long and something is wrong that they might not take back no matter what

As long as it's within the return window (90 days or whatever they give you), you should be able to get a refund without any questions asked. But the whole thing about trying to return with the original receipt and then rebuying at the now discounted price, while keeping the original unit, is a form of return fraud so I'd proceed cautiously if that's your plan.

To those wanting to adjust the price, most stores will do a price adjustment within the return window if you go back with your receipt. No need to purchase a second unit.

Walmart will not adjust online orders or BF deals. You'll probably still have to buy and return

I was specifically told by Arcade 1up to do this. It just so happened to be discounted in the process. It all stemmed from them not wanting to replace the control deck. The ticket is still open for the past month+

I think your situation is a little different. I'm referring more to someone who bought it, set it up, has been playing it, and will then "return" a new purchase using the old receipt in order to save money. I get it, truly, but let's be real about what that is.
