What are you reading... Now...

I'm in the middle of a cluster-buster of books:

High Fidelity - Scary good, considering its written how men think....
A Brief History Of Time - Stephen Hawking, baby
A Prayer For Owen Meany - Hahaha, Simon Birch.
War Of The Worlds - So...wait...Tom who?

One of the worst books I've ever read. Usually the book is better than the movie, and this time the movie was way better than the book.

Great book.

What am I reading?
  • Outsiders (the most recent issue): mindboggling, Brainiac
  • This thread: sort of new
  • "Media Control" - Noam Chomsky: Great book about how media influences us
  • "Winterkrieg in Tibet" - Friedrich Dürrenmatt: Dead boring and very comlicated, but I have to read it.

"In Praise of Nepotism" by Adam Bellow, historical non-fiction about family enterprises.

I'm one of those folks that reads one book at a time, but I usually plow through them within a couple days or so. And thanks for reminding me that I really need to throw down a couple hundred bucks on new reading material.

"The Cleric Quintet" by R.A. Salvatore, a collection of five novels about a cleric named Cadderly and his friends Danica and two dwarves named Ivan and Pikel Bouldershoulder. It's over 1,000 pages long and it's very good.

Indeed they are. I started "Quintet" after filling my head with all the awesome Drizzt adventures, which took a good chunk of time. After this I intend to read Salvatore's "The Highwayman."

I disagree about High Fidelity being bad, I read a lot, and it reads way better than a lot of stephen king books. I just like the first person view into a dude's psyche who thinks an awful lot like every man ever.

Just something I can relate to.

It's a lot like Chuck Palahniuks work, just less prolific and masochistic.

I just finished Palahniuk's 'Haunted'm and have Invisible Monsters to read too.

A couple of nights ago, The master of Cosmos and Mr. lazy Tech-supporter and I were talking about Godzilla and how awesome he is. I mean, what other green monster can breathe radioactive flames and fight robots that just grow for no reason at all (not even its creator knew that the robot was able to do that)? Anyways, we had lots of fun and because I had to find out the English titles of some of the movies, I needed to get my Godzilla Handbook. And because I love that book so much, I'm reading it again.

The book, written by a German fella called Gernot Gricksch and he collected all sorts of info on the monsters and movies. For example, I learned that Gigan is 65 Meters tall, weighs 25,000 tons and is able to shoot deadly rays from his forehead. If that isn't awesome I don't know what is. Also, Gricksch has a very funny way of writing.

Now, I don't know if this book is available in English, but I sure hope so and I recommend the book to any lover of "Big G".

I wish you all a happy Roar!

I recently picked up The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells at my school library. This book sounds pretty intrestin' and I read like the first five pages of it. I'm really intrugied by Wells' view of Martins and how they would react if they invaded Earth. This is the longer version cuz it has an afterword by Isaac Asimov. That tells how Mars rotates on its axis and has all this mathematical stuff. The cover has white on it as opposed to the black on that's shorter and has less pictures on both covers. I'm pointin' out the differences if anyone has read the book and if they know there's two versions or they don't. I'll hafta scan the cover some time. I recommend this book to anyone that needs to feed they're sci fi addiction or just wants to read about Martians invadin' Earth.
