If you could only pick one, and it absolutely would come to fruition and hit the stores in, say, a year from now, which would it be?

A fighting game by NRS, or an Arkham-style game by Rocksteady?

Which one? Please say Scorpion, please say Scorpion... The most perfect mental image of his intro dialogue with Shredder just popped into my mind:

Scorpion: Get over here!
Shredder: The Shredder goes where he pleases!

Heh, this is almost something that could probably carry a topic of its own!

A VERY tough choice but...I think while there's definitely a part of me yearning for TMNT Tournament Fighters to have a worthy successor after all these years, I know in my heart that the TMNT brand needs an "Arkham" game more.

As much hype as the guys appearing in Injustice has produced, it's great for guys, like me, who already love fighting games. It's a bit more diminished for those aren't, and have no interest in playing competitive games. A TMNT-focused fighter would only generate more in that vein. Therefore, a "TMNT Arkham" probably would generate even more interest. And hell, I think if there was any place (besides IDW's comics) where a more "mature" TMNT could shine independently from whatever cartoon or movie Nickelodeon wants to sell to kids, it'd be an Arkham game.

...Then after that's a resounding success, bring on the designated fighting game spin off!

I think you are missing the point of a dream roster.

But, you know, to be frank, the chances of at least one Triceraton making it in are far greater in the fighting game. I'm sure the "Arkham" game would focus on Shredder and the Foot, or at least the first one in the franchise would. They're by far the most recognizable antagonists in the franchise.

I know. And that's what makes it even harder for me. Either of which would make me insanely happy, but if I was somehow made the decision maker between these two choices?

I probably would have to consider what I think to be for the greater good of the brand itself.

...And then just make sure a full-fledged Triceraton Invasion would be the focus of the sequel 2.5 years later!

Such a game could definitely work. It's sad that video game and live action adaptations always stick to Shredder and Krang as the big bads. The Triceratons could work just as well, especially if you sprinkle in Bishop as a third party.

The amazing and exotic universe of TMNT is hardly tapped out after the Foot have been dealt with. I'm still waiting on a live action Leatherhead myself...

Mozar or Zog are the two most recognizable Triceratons.

I was disappointed in Smash Up's roster and a let down to this day. It was advertised not by Mirage, but by Ubisoft close to a year ahead teasing an anniversary celebration and characters from the past available to play. So not ill will to Mirage, but between that and Rabbids being shoehorned in...

That sparks a TMNT fighter game that is not specific to any version and is willing to use various incarnations.

TMNT ( alternate '87 cartoon skin and Mirage skin)
Splinter
Casey Jones
Miyamato Usagi
Metalhead
Traxmius
Genghis Frog
Mondo Gecko
Ace Duck
Alopex
Nobody (alternate Angel version skin)
Mona Lisa
Old Hob
Shredder
Krang (android body)
Bebop
Rocksteady
Rat King
Slash
Leatherhead
Armaggon
General Tragg
Alpha One
Karai
Hun
Agent Bishop
Baxter Stockman (alternate fly form skin)
Zandramon
Tatsu

32 characters

You could easily fill a TMNT fighting game with a great, diverse roster. Most of the great characters have been named, but I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned Zog. I'd love to have Zog in the game.

Another user and I have discussed the possibility of a Street Fighter type fighting game for the Turtles over the last few years. Now, if only one of us were a programmer.

For my ideal roster, I'd go with these characters. I will likely make a secondary post with costumes and go more in-depth then.

Starting roster:

Leonardo
Raphael
Donatello
Michelangelo
Master Splinter/Hamato Yoshi (can be toggled depending on which you prefer)
April O'Neil
Casey Jones
Leatherhead
Shredder
Krang
Bebop
Rocksteady
Baxter Stockman
Rat King

Unlockable characters:

Fugitioid
Slash
Mozar/Zog (I need to read more comics to know if they work as separate characters)
Newtrailizer or Tiger Claw
Rahzar
Hun
Wingnut (with Screwloose)
Karai? (could be a starter)

I need a little more time to develop a concrete idea, but it's a start.

Literally the post directly above yours

If I were in charge of a TMNT fighting game, it'd go like this:

Choose one of the four Turtles to start with, spar with each of your brothers to unlock them.

Be introduced to Raph's friend Casey Jones, spar with him, beat him, unlock him

Master Splinter comes into the lair, tells his sons that their enemies are amassing their strength and that they all need to be in tip-top shape; fight Splinter, beat him, unlock him

Between each of these levels you can talk to April in the sewer lair, who can do research to provide periodic upgrades (in my opinion April works best as a support role in TMNT media; she doesn't need to become a fighter on her own). Other upgrades also become available through Splinter (ancient ninjitsu type stuff) and Harold Lillja (tech gadgets and the like)

Next fight is with Karai and when you beat her you unlock her (you know the drill by now). She tells you the Foot Clan has Clan Hamato in their sights

Baxter Stockman. He doesn't actually fight, he just stands in the background and controls a few different types of flyborgs. After he's beaten you can unlock them.

Next Stockman sends Old Hob.

Then comes Hun, some Elite Foot Guards, Bebop & Rocksteady, Stone Soldiers who tell you the Krang is coming, Agent Bishop (who is revealed to be a cyborg), Slash, whatever that parkour Savate guy's name was, Xiang of the Ghost Boys, and then eventually Krang, the Shredder, and maybe even some Pantheon members.

A DLC pack could be Zog and some other Dimension X denizens, Hakk-R would be cool, and Ace Duck, one of the Neutrinos. The other DLC pack could be the rest of the Pantheon.

Maybe a bit off topic but has anyone ever attempted to remake TMNT Tournament Fighters in HD or with somewhat improved graphics even as a fan project? That would be nice to see.
