Probably a lot better than their more modern counterparts. I know if I watch the original Frankenstein, for example, it has a bigger timeless quality than if I were to watch, say, the De Niro version.

On a sidenote, super, highly underrated Frankenstein movie? "Frankenstein Unbound." Time travel!

Then you should like the originals just fine. I think Bride of Frankenstien is the best overall, but the original Dracula is the most creepy. I highly recommend most if not all of the classics. Dracula's Daughter is great too and surprisingly underrated.

I've only seen the first Mummy movie and I liked it. The makeup work on Boris Karloff still looks impressive today. The Wolfman is good but the sequels are better.

The only one of the classics that I find a little boring is the original Frankenstein, but it's so iconic and all the great sequels make up for it in my opinion. "The Creature Walks Among Us", the third Creature From the Black Lagoon movie, is kinda forgettable and only recommended if you really want to see it.

If you enjoy Three Stooges-esque comedy check out the Abbott and Costello Meets movies, but only after you've seen the originals.

Is Universal still holding the line that their next round of Classic Monster re-dos will be individual stand-alone films rather than an inter-connected universe?

I love the Claude Rains Invisible Man film (didn't care as much for the H. G. Wells book, yeah, silly me), so I'm at least curious about the new version coming out later this month.

Nope. Universal has completely scrapped the Dark Universe. So all those movies will be standalone for now.

Indeed. I think Johnny Depp was supposed to be the Invisible Man.

And this new one. The Invisible Man turns out to an abusive ex husband.
