My own guess is that Leatherhead takes in the distressed humans who feel they are abominations and works as a party that opposes Hob, Null and the EPF, wishing to protect mutants while also stopping any further damage to earth’s ecosystem with alien mutagen.

As much as I normally love Eastman's work, that is a really messy-looking cover. I gotta stare at some of the characters for a bit to realize who they were. Until I realized there was glass over Seymour's head, I thought he was Rise's Foot Lieutenant!

Personally I hope such a scenario happens when it comes to the EPF. The part of protecting the ecosystem certainly is plausible knowing what we have established of Leatherhead's character in this era.

I'm willing to bet a big role, maybe they'll even be a crossover point, i.e. we see the Dragon resurrecting in the mortal realm in 100 while at the end of #5 we see the Dragon leaving Hell and a caption at the bottom saying to be continued in 100.

I would go so far as to say that we've had a few season finales before, this time it feels more like a series finale.

Yes exactly. Some season finales maintain the status quo, some completely upend it. This definitely feels like the latter.

Just a guess: The Dragon returns, but only with the “Tatsuo” half of the soul. Saki will actually return human, rejecting the dragon part of his destiny and will help the Hamato Clan post issue 100.

I'm guessing she wouldn't have needed the sword if she had the head?

Edit: Wait, if the skull is elsewhere, and Saki and Tatsuo are indeed splitting in the Shredder in Hell series, perhaps the head and body are what brings back two "Shredders."
