Oh, Vernon!

We usually distinguish Vernon's character as ambitious and cowardly but there were his moments of stupidity that is eye-rolling. It's not like with Rocksteady and Bebop where stupidity is played for comedic effect and was part of their charm.

Let's see here, after doing a story of Turtles at an aquarium, he openly expressed disgust while the cameras are still rolling. As a reporter, you should now when the camera has stopped rolling when the cameraman gives you the clear. There was also playing a tape live about a top-secret weapon without checking its contents first. Not to mention giving the address and security capabilities of a lab containing a dangerous substance.

It's a wonder why he was never fired for stuff like this. But the status quo has to be maintained and it would be quite dull without good ol' Vernon.

Vernon is clearly meant to be a love/hate character, mainly because of how nasty he is to April and the Turtles, yet he becomes funny when he's such a coward and begs everyone to save him.

My favorite Vernon moment was when he was reporting on TV about April either being missing or running out of air (this was when she was locked away in a vault with the air expiring), and Vernon pretends to cry on TV about her dying. Then a second later "happy music" plays with Vernon smiling saying, "Never fear, Vernon Fenwick will be here to report the news if April O'Neil doesn't survive."

Vernon really did harass April in a lot of episodes, like that one ep where she gets in an elevator and he presses the button going to the top floor, then runs downstairs to take the news van and steal her story.

I actually find Vernon oddly hilarious. His VA was great too.

how about being a creep to Michelangelo in "Pizza by the Shred" when he says " i suppose you want a tip... well heres one anyways get a real job".

but if you want pure stupid Vernon moments just watch "Hero for a Day" when he plays the part of the "super hero" News Man.

I liked the way when Shredder tore free of his ropes he says, "Who dares tie up the mighty Shredder?"

And Vernon says, "Well it certainly wasn't me, sir."

That's Rhino Man.

What about when Vernon made fun of Leonardo for being afraid on snakes, then Leonardo suggested he handled the snakes and then he gets scared himself?

You're assuming that real-life news reporters don't commit such stupidities. They do. I remember in college how a Vietnam veteran complained about how TV news reporters gave away the location of the soldiers they were embedded with. Also, none other than Dan Rather and Peter Arnett have damaged their own careers for reporting false stories.
