I didn't notice the ribcage shot. I just remember he jumped Leo from behind and it looked like he hit Leo in the head and took him down that way. Raph just said that because he wanted to cover up that he was angry about Leo winning.
And thanks for the birthday wishes, NinjaMan. Been good so far.

Casey is a skilled fighter for a kid. Taking out street thugs, Foot robots and even Raph? I think he was a little too good a fighter, after all he's only like 16 or something right?

So are the turtles. And outside of being a sports nut they haven't given this Casey a proper origin story. Who knows what other kind of training the writers might give him?

Hmmm, let's see...around age 16 I believe I was near the mid range of belts in Taekwondo (Blue belt or so) Which means I had already broken boards, sparred in tournaments and even learned the basics of Nunchuks and short sticks. I could also already shoot rifles fairly decently and could definitely swing a sledgehammer, let alone a bat...........and I was just a toy geek, not even a sports geek who played hockey like Casey

Kate Micucci... Be still my heart.
What a pleasant surprise hearing her do a voice (Irma) on TMNT! I loved her on both Scrubs & Till Death, she's a qt and pretty funny. Hope there's more of her come. This episode was a fanboys dream. Sooooooo many nods to the first film, comics, etc. & yet it had so much new too! Perfection.

Holy crap, this episode was AMAZING. I find it sort of amusing that we've had what, 3 episodes with Casey in it and he's already so much more developed than April. His and Raph's first meeting....PERFECT. And finally! A reaction to Master Splinter like a real person! And, and, AND, my biggest fear didn't come true! The second April walked in and Casey was there, I was already gearing myself up for some stupid awkwardness with Don, and there wasn't any! Of course, that doesn't mean there might not be some later on, but for Casey's first introduction I'm sooooo happy all that garbage was left alone.
Two amazing episodes in a row, color me impressed!!

Plus I also noticed that in this episode and the last one that the fighting seems MUCH more fluid and well thought out. I was pretty disappointed in a lot of the fight scenes in season one, but especially today's episode the choreography seemed particularly well done.

I thought this episode rocked! Great nods to the 1990 movie, the comic with the Casey artwork, and the Super Sentai reference was just great. I was overall impressed with the amount of action in this episode, really kept you glued to what was going on. Raph and Casey's encounter was just near perfect, although I agree with some of you that they became buddies a little too fast.
Nonetheless, I hope they continue an ongoing rivalry between them.

I've been super critical about this series, and still don't dig Casey too much, but this was an example of an episode done well. It had the classic Raph meets Casey Jones, while feeling fresh and not corny or dumbed-down. The only negatives I have for this episode are Irma's irrelevance and Raph's lack of development and perpetual anger induced temper tantrums. I'd say this is in the top 3 episodes so far, behind "The Gauntlet" and one of the recent Karai episodes...the title is slipping my mind right now.
