Toxic Crusaders by Playmates?

A little off topic, but do any of you collect Toxic Crusaders figures along with the vintage TMNT stuff? I didn't, but some recent TMNT lots I purchased included Toxie and some other figures from that line. They fit in rather nicely with the turtles toys.

I don't, but I've been super tempted to. I never watched Toxic Crusaders, but I am a big Toxic Avenger fan. Then there's the fact that most of the figures would be a perfect fit for the TMNT line. As a matter of fact, I got the Radiation Ranger (pictured below) from a shop that sold loose toys when I was a kid, thinking that it was a turtle character. The Playmates seal on the foot more or less confirmed it, as far as I was concerned. Wish I still had it, but I ended up using it to make a custom a few years back that I ultimately sold. Oh well.

I think at the very least, I will one day buy Toxie & another one of the fella above.

I used to love Toxic Crusaders back in the day and I watched it. The toys were pretty cool too.

I managed to snag 3 Toxies as well as Dr Killemoff, Psycho, and Major Disaster. I'm going to paint one of the Toxies to match his movie colors.

BTW... the movie is about to hit Blu-ray for those that are interested.

i had some as a kid. I watched a few eps of the show but was never that into it. the figures however were awesome especially Toxie.

And imagine how broken my kid mind became when I was about 9 or 10yo, flipping channels when The Toxic Avenger came on cable TV and I watched it because I recognized Toxie.

Thank you Troma films!

I love that they decided to make an animated show and toyline based off this hard-R rated independent horror/comedy/superhero franchise. So weird, I wonder if they would ever do that today.

I know...it's crazy that the powers-that-be saw a kids show based on that movie!! Robocop toys and toons were pretty crazy as well, considering how violent the film was. They made for pretty cool toys though, although Officer Lewis' figure looked like a man!!

Powder...what kind of custom did u make with that guy? I'm looking to get that figure as well, he's pretty cool.

Rick

I made a Rocksteady custom using his legs, Dirtbags torso, & the head from Power Punching Rocksteady. A little sculpting & paint was involved as well. No pics, though!

I recall seeing the dog one in a TMNT collection video. In fact, most of Playmates' toys of the era are in TMNT-style.

Yeah man, the Earthworm Jim figures they made could pass for turtle figs, too. Well, some of 'em. & the accessories.

I had similar experience of finding some in TMNT lots. Started searching for missing pieces. Looks nice next to TMNT just like Bucky O'hare.

My current collection missing Junkyard figure and some accessories.

The packaging reminds of that for the Kenner Beetlejuice line.

The paint applications are what sets these apart from the TMNT figures.

I see a lot of people mistaking Psycrow, Peter Puppy, and Henchrat for TMNT figures.

I've thought about adding some of the EW Jim figs to my TMNT collection as well!

I had a few of those toys even Toxie and No-Zone, i had a t-shirt, watched the cartoon on sunday mornings and comics.

I also remembered renting the movie on video of The Toxic Avenger when i was 9 years old to see where it all began, and OMG it was a shocking as hell movie. I mean it had scenes of extreme brutality/violence/gore, drug use, some sex and that disgusting scene that made me sick when i was a kid was when it had a 12 year old boy getting hit by a car then suddenly, the kid is still moving then the car backs up then crushes his skull in detail until his skull explodes brains and stuff, OMG that scene made me sick but was an awesome movie despite that horrific scene. I was like "how did they made a cartoon out of such a movie?".

I remember hearing a rumor that these character toys and vehicles were leftover retooled sculpts of items from the original Playmates TMNT line. I’m not sure if it is true or not, but good grief, did Playmates use too many vivacious neon colors for this Toxic Crusaders line. The 1991 Playmates Toxic Crusaders was everything early 90s in a handbasket. I actually prefer the 2017 Toxie Super7 ReAction figure to anything from the 1991 Playmates Toxic Crusaders line.
