Those "librarian-hot" types always end being into the craziest, freakiest sh*t. Like yeah, April's hotter but... I'unno man. I think Irma might be more "fun". Especially tipsy.

I will second that. There were SEVERAL episodes where Don could have asked April or someone else to run favors for him (Donatello's Degree, Invasion of the Turtle Snatchers, etc) or hang out with, but seemed to pick Irma very frequently. Maybe because she was more of a fellow nerd than most, plus older and more mature than the typical picks of his brothers (barring Lotus and Radical, maybe).
Plus, there WAS that episode where she and April were vacationing in Florida- I think it was Leatherhead Terror of the Swamp, where Irma wore a bathing suit, plus that superheroine outfit she wore once or twice, so there's that.

My headcanon is that they once got drunk together playing Magic: The Gathering, and "stuff happened". And they just pretend it didn't and silently agree to never mention it, while still trying to "subconsciously" create a scenario in which it may one day happen again.
In my head, half of all the cartoon characters that ever existed spend most of their offscreen time banging the other half. Because when you've been watching this stuff for almost 40 goddamn years you start having to make your own "fun" after a while. Quote:

PERV!!! Kidding (not really). But yeah, I can go along with that. But probably more like a late night in the lab where she was helping him with something, they were SUPER close for an extended period, and.... Stuff happened. And they liked it. So now they are friends with bennies....

Well, in her man crazy behavior she did seem to get open minded enough after a while to the point when Donnie says "Irma, I need you" and she starts swooning before he could tell her to calm down, it's just to help pick up a pizza. Just rewatched that one the other day. And I think it was the very next ep where three of them are tricked with a love potion and fall in love with her? But it's kinda odd that after the hints of her being open to accept a Turtle's interest she's upset when she found our her "three sailors" where three of the Turtles. But I just now realized that the only one not tricked with the potion was DONNIE. Maybe the disappointment wasn't really for being Turtles but rather which one it wasn't. |

When she's at her desk at work, I imagine she must be chewing her pen, twirling her hair with her finger, AND constantly crossing and uncrossing her legs, simultaneously. Because we all know what each of those things in and of itself are indicative of, and let's face it... she's a rather desperate woman, which means it's been a while. Poor kid. Quote:
Out of context, that seriously looks like the establishing shot of the worst porno movie ever, doesn't it? "Well ladies... if you don't have enough money, there's ANOTHER way you can 'pay' for this pizza..." "What pizza? You didn't even BRING the pizza!" "...We spent all our budget on lube and French ticklers, okay? Just get naked, Donnie says we can only afford to rent the camera until 6pm or they'll charge us a whole extra day..."

That was exactly what I was thinking, LOL! So the love potion was right after the one he said "I need you" in? Huh, I hadn't even realized that. But suddenly a LOT of things in those two episodes make more sense now. And it also gives me some ideas for me fics.... As an aside, I actually did reference that episode in Love Is Shell, with Mikey being the one behind the gift of the puppy. Not only does he admit to it, he bribes her with a chocolate soufflet to keep quiet about his plans to take off with his gf in secret for a day. And there are several scenes where the idea of matchmaking her and Donnie pop up. For the reasons already mentioned. But the Donatello's Degree episode is also brought up several times, specifically due to her involvement and the confusion over his name. So.... Donatello strikes me as the quiet type, and for some reason she seemed to hang with him more than any of the others. His willingness to hang out with her alone might have been less than incidental. Yup that was exactly the one I was thinking of!

Donatello and Irma also had some lines in Sky Turtles.

There was also that Maltese Hampster episode where all the Turtles and Splinter are abducted by some mobsters who worked for the Shredder.
Donatello is told to escape and then is supposedly crushed by falling building facade. He manages to crawl out of the rubble once the mobsters drive off with Leo and Splinter and limps away. Then the next scene has Irma on the phone when we hear a loud thud off screen and Irma responds by saying "You'll have to excuse me, it sounds like someone just passed out in front of my desk." She then leaves the desk finds a seriously wounded Donatello. Her reaction to finding Donatello wasn't really lusty or suggestive as some other examples, but she is the sort of person who wishes men would just pass out in exaltation at the sight of her |

Invasion of the Turtles Snatchers
They also went out in Invasion of the Turtles Snatchers, and Irma reacted.

AND... going by an initial farther shot and the voice, that is supposed to be DONNIE in that shot. Color error my ass... he just stole one of Leo's masks to hide that it was him that was eager to go talk to them right that moment. |

Don and Irma have loads of moments in Donatello's Degree. Irma even likes using Donny's name as a pseudonym and considers keeping it afterwards.

I'm actually stunned that there is a thread about shipping on this forum. I thought old people hated shipping.

Old?? *hmph* (Nah, just a bunch of big kids, the exterior is just a little more worn out for some than others. )
Well, there's definitely one major difference. Doesn't come up much around here, but when it does it tends to be things that are either actually canon (such as Raph and his various girlfriends), and personally I don't label that as "shipping" if it's actually legit, or based on character interactions that could at least hint at something if looked at from the right angle (like '87 Donnie and Irma). And mainly just for entertainment value. All the Tumblr (and elsewhere) shipping of characters with no actual canon interest in each other or any reason to feel that way, and taking a lot more seriously than this, is kind of its own category. |
