Which would absolutely be the wrong takeaways from Rise failing.

But you're 100% right.

Merchandise $$$ is also sending that same message. Viacom would never let something like 2k3 would never happen again in the manchild era. And to think some people were hating on Peter Laird when he was in charge for not letting the company grow. Monkey paw wish turned their dream into a reality.

Would be cool if the IDW comics can get an animated adaption, they have 100+ issues now (technically 200+ with all the specials and mini's), to make a series out of. And I don't mean based on it, but actually adapting the stories as they are into cartoon form.

I wouldn't mind, though there's aspects of the IDW run I didn't personally like, and also I feel like they are always going to try to cater to a young audience so they'd tone down and/or alter a lot of concepts in the IDW comics. I know people really want an older audience TMNT, but I don't see it happening anytime soon aside from a DTV movie like Batman vs TMNT.

I really wish the 2012 show had received a movie to wrap up the series, tie up loose ends, and maybe answer some questions that were never fully answered. There were also subplots being set up or characters introduced that were suddenly dropped or forgotten about. The main reason I figured that it didn't receive one, was because of Rise coming out so soon after 2012 ended. There was no gap between this series and Rise and maybe they didn't want 2012 to overshadow it.

There was nothing really dropped, although I figure if we get a movie we would see stuff like Tiger Claw and maybe Alopex fighting alongside the Turtles as allies or something.

Yeah, since this is like my fav. TMNT show ever, it was disappointing that it didnt get that extra something like Rise got. But hey, Rise is great too so it's not all bad.
