Happened in the late 90s, and we might be due for a repeat in the one realm where 2D has always thrived.

Sad, because 2D games are best suited for portability. I hope Nintendo sets a good example by launching with some quality retail 2D software in their lineup.
I agree with you, so many great titles on DS were great 2D games like, New Super Mario bros, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventure, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man, and TMNT 3 Mutant Nightmare.

But I would really love for the 3DS to have cool 2D games with "Wario Shake It" quality. That game looks so good because the graphics look nice and smooth like a cartoon. Those type of 2D titles and a continuation of the New Super Mario series would be great 2D games.

I worry about the same thing. Luckily I read that Konami trademarked "Harmony of Despair." It sounds like a Metroid-vania name and Igarashi is physically incapable of resisting to borrow assets from Rondo of Blood. If they are really going to develop it for the 3DS like I hope they are, then we will almost certainly have at least one 2D title.

There will be 2D games on the 3DS. You can count on it.

Good luck. Nintendo rarely releases that kind of information for either the VC or Wii-ware.

"By including even more of our top-quality hardware ..." <--This is a joke, right?

"Now more than ever, consumers can count on Nintendo to deliver inclusive fun..." Inclusive is a word we use a lot in my Classroom interventions course to describe classrooms that allow for special needs children to get involved...An "INCLUSIVE" classroom...An "INCLUSIVE" system...

Handicapped fun.

I'm looking forward to this.

It's adorable, it has a unique graphic style, and gameplay looks like a neat variation on Kirby's Canvas Curse (which I love).

And it's made by Yuji Naka.

Sure, there's a huge chance it's going to blow, but just from initial look, I'm interested.

Actually, that looks pretty damn fun (and adorable). Sign me up.

And Yuji Naka was never the real problem at Sonic team. He wasn't as good as the people he drove out, but given a decent budget and a proper time window, he could make very good games (Sonic Adventure 1+2, and Billy Hatcher). Sega gave him neither.

Yeah, well... the last game he made in recent memory was "Let's Tap" and the only memory I haven't repressed was that they used penguins in the advertising.

Still, I'm very interested in Ivy the Kiwi? and I'm hoping only good things for it.

He also produced those Rub Rabbits games for DS, and I remember laughing my ass off at both of them.

Yowza, too tricky for the likes of me! I can't deny it does look pretty neat though.

Weiiiiird. Probably the ugliest set of starters ever, but the water...otter...the...wotter...looks pretty cool. But that pig thing is up there with Torchic and Turtwig for the stupidest looking starters ever. Hopefully their evolutions look better.
