It's ok, I just get angry when people rip on skinny girls like they are freaks or have an eating disorder or trying to be that way on purpose. I have always been skinny, I'm not even 100 pounds and I don't try to be that way I just always have been. and unfortunately I don't have much curves I'm a straight as ruler and sometimes I do get mistaken for a boy because I have short hair like one. And ushually I get picked on by these fat ass girls that can't stand that their fat and say girls like me are bulimic. It's the same as when fit people rip on fat people, it goes both ways.

yeah, you'll be seeing alot of that in the old toon. April gets tyed up and gagged and flung over the shoulder and carried off against her will quite often through out the series.

The turtles actually did a fair amount of grabbing April and flinging her over their shoulder and carring her off (mostly to run away from danger) as well. My guess was for this was to have any excuse of for the animators to draw her round butt of hers at close range.

I've been looking over the screen caps in season one of the old toon and I'm convinced more than ever that April is the prettiest April of the bunch. Especially in season one. There was just something diffrent about how they animated her in the first season that didn't come close to doing in later seasons.



like in this pic right here, just her face and her eyes it looks so detailed here. And I like the expression on her face. She looks nervous or unsure or something. And I like how her lips are so full here.



in this one I like the detail on her hair and her and her open mouthed expression, she looks so young and innocent here like she is only 23 or 24 rather than 28. She looks a slightly distressed here too for some reason.



I think I like this one best of all she looks like a total spitfire with that disgruntled look on her face, and her features look so delicate and fine, her eye lashes look so long too, and I like how her mouth looks like bow in this one.

in Red Sky she looked nice but some how she looked slightly plainer and looked a bit older like in her thirties older and I thought the detail wasn't as refined here. But I do like that they gave her greenish blue eyes in the final season.

Actually, strange as it seems, this topic is quite popular among the tmnt fanbase and no harm there IMO. She is a strong female who understands the turtles and one of the nicest gals I've ever read/seen.

yeah I agree it's just to bad that OT April is the only version of April that didn't learn how to fight. But OT April, for all her damsel in distress ways, was still pretty kick ass and independent in her own way. I liked how she could drive a motorcycle and helecoptor all by her self and even shoot a laser gun with accuracy when she had to.

And even though I wasn't big on April learning ninjitsu so quickly in the new toon, in retospect she ninjitsu thing was handled pretty decently in the toon. She became good in a realistic way and in a reasonable amount of time, and I like how she is profiecint in ninjitsu right now not a ninja master being able to own every thing in sight and and kick the turtles butts who've practiced ninjitsu all their lives.

Thats something I would have liked seeing a little nod too in the new CGI movie was some back ground on April recieving training from Splinter. I knoiw we can all assume she did considering her level of competance in the movie, but a small mention would have been nice.

It would have been interesting to see OT April learning, not from the beginning but develop skills as the series progres. But OT April probably had the best driving skills.

actually I think I would have rather seen OT April turn into a cop and learn how to become one of those sharp shooter gals. I think if OT April really wanted to she could have been a lady cop. She was actually pretty athletic in the original toon and could have pulled off the officer thing.

I bet NT April would look just as attractive in a swim suit like that. What I like about OT April and it's depicted very well in that drawing is that OT April is slender but she is also fleshy and has a figure with actual curves. She has an adult body and adult portions and she looks very pretty and attractive. NT April was also drawn thin but she was not so skinny she looked unnatural and she adult portions. I like her new design for BTTS but April doesn't look an adult any more, her firgure looks more like teenager who was grown into her hips and chest yet.

Most heroes or villain characters typically have a muscular physique. Think about it, would Casey Jones or Shredder look menacing if they were skinny, or had no muscle tone? But the problem with that portrayal is, it's very pressuring to other men who don't have that type of body. I myself have a slim and toned physique, but I always get commented on how I need to gain more weight, when the problem is I'm naturally slim so gaining weight for me is not easy for me.

Anyway, don't really want to be turning the topic around, it's just that a lot of cartoons have to do with how good there characters look, especially with super heroes. I don't think I've seen one "hero" type cartoon without there being at least one attractive girl character...that being said I like the original April better. lol

a little off topic but does any one think that OT April had a certain turtle she identified with or felt a little closer to than the others like NT Arpil does with Donatello? I always thought that OT April and Leonardo seemed a little closer and on the same playing feild emotionally than the others? I noticed that Leonardo had more team-ups with her than any of the other turtles and he seemd to rescue her alot. Just look at this picture and their facial expressions here:



Leoanrdo doesn't look put out to have April in his arms and April doesn't seem to mind eighther.

you actually see I wider vareity of males physiques in cartoons and live action other than just ultra beefy pumped up muscle men. I have frequently seen the wiry skinny look on male characters before, athletic but not muscle man physique, and even fat. Female characters in cartoons are always slender and shapely or just willowy thin, you really don't see medium sized girls, like the size twelves or fourteens type of bodies in cartoons or television, or the really fat girls, as main characters--unless that's there gimmick or angst that their fat.

80's April gets kidnapped alot in the show because huge hench men and bad guys are always over powering her and she doesn't have chance. But does any one think that if April had to she could hold her own against another female? As damsel-in-distress oriented as she was, do you think 80's April had what it took to win a cat fight?

OT April doesn't seem like a brawler to me, she basically got her tush kicked when she tried to fight Jersay Red until Mike ran in there saved her ass. So she wouldn't win in fight with an experience female brawler.
