Time to risk Covid-19 to watch a movie you've seen a million times?

Are theatres still open in America? Doesn't seem like a good idea

wouldn't be that much of a risk. The three times I went to the theatre there was 1 or 2 other people besides me watching the movie.

I watched it at AMC in Disney Springs with about 20-30 other people, including Kim Dawson, the producer, and Bobby Herbeck, the screenwriter. Afterwards, we did a Q&A, and I got a 1 of 100 prints of a reproduction movie poster signed by Kim, Bobby, and another. I also bought the script to the movie, numbered 4/100. It's really interesting to see all of the scenes that were different, cut, or scenes that were actually shot as written, that I wouldn't have expected. Like the "You're a claustrophobic" line. I didn't expect that to be in the script with that back and forth.
Also, the picture quality looked great. The only thing that was off was the sound, but I believe that was an issue with the actual theater not having the sound settings correct, just based on my prior experience as a movie projectionist. |

I'm not sure how they showed it for this limited release (which I almost took the daughter to, as she already completely forgot watching it when she was like 3 or 4), but of course TMNT 1990 was shot on film. The original print would be the equivalent of like... 8K or more, if processed to that digitally today.

Without a ton of digital touch ups I'm not sure you guys really want to see some kind of ultra hi-def 4K version of TMNT 1990.

When I picked up the DVD much later in life I wasn't sure if I actually liked it being "clean" or "clear". After not seeing the VHS in decades I'm used to the DVD clarity now. Not sure I'd want to go to an even higher resolution...

The blu-ray is super grainy as it is supposed to be. The low-budget nature of its production is part of its soul and I love it. I doubt a 4K version will add any significant detail on the picture so I think it is quite unnecessary.

I don't care about a theatrical re-release.
Give me my 4K blu-ray. There is only so much they can do to improve on the blu-ray due to the grainy source material, but I still want it to happen. |

I saw it with my friends a couple of weeks ago. We were the only people at the theater which wasn't surprising given what's going on in the world right now. I was happy to get to see this on the big screen because I was only 3 years old when it first hit theaters. It looked crystal clear and my friends were smiling throughout the movie.

I'd imagine it would be like when I saw it as a kid. Especially hearing Raph scream DAAAAAMN

I got to see it. This came out well before I was around, so getting to see one of my favorite films in theaters was a dream come true.
