Did Gambit have a previous release date?

It would be nice if they got Anna Paquin to reprise the role of Rogue and of course have the character fly this time around. She's not the lead on a TV series right now, so it wouldn't interfere with her schedule like True Blood did with X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Eh, just recast Rogue.

I never really cared for Paquin in the role. How about... thinks for a moment... Bella Thorne? Or maybe Danielle Panabaker?

I could see Danielle Panabaker as Rouge.

Lizzy Caplan is going to play Bella Donna Boudreaux. She's the daughter of the leader of the New Orleans Assassins’ Guild and Remy LeBeau’s first love.

Goodness that is NOT a flattering image of her at all.
I do love her, however. She was great on Masters of Sex.

Let me guess, even though we saw Gambit was a 30-something year-old man in the 1980s, he'll miraculously be a 30-something year-old man in 2019?

What a dumb movie idea. Just make him part of a real X-Men team and play him off Rogue.

That's the pre-Days of Future Past continuity, I think. I mean, if Origins was even canon to that. They seemed to waffle about it, since the movie was so poorly received. Since they did a time rejigging, they could always just do what you suggest and have him join the X-Men in a coming film, Rogue or not.

It's always surprised me that one of the best known and liked X-Men was left out of the franchise entirely aside from a Wolverine solo film people didn't like.

It is. At least, everything that happened pre-70s. The Gambit stuff was the 80s... but think about it. By the time Wolverine time-traveled back to the 70s, Gambit would have already been born.

I'm sure they won't even bat an eyebrow about it, though. That's why Jubilee has remained 18 years old whether she's in 2005 or 1985.

Never understood the studio's push to make this film a reality. I assume they want a vehicle for Channing Tatum, but is this his favorite X-Men character or something? Surely they could have gotten him on board with another character. And Gambit isn't, or at least hasn't been, a fan favorite in a very long time.

With the Disney & FOX merger happening, some wondered about the future of this project. However, before the deal was made 20th Century FOX confirmed that the film is set for IMAX release.

After the announcement of the Disney & FOX deal, here's what sources had to say about the film.

The answers will lie in a re-evaluation of the projects down the line to see how and if it fits into a broader Marvel strategy, according to sources.

Today, New Orleans city and state's film offices just confirmed that the film will be shooting in the city for 70 days in March 2018. Other production locations are still possible.

Eh... I mean, it's technically possible. Fox still legally has to operate with business as usual until the acquisition of their properties is approved.

There's a rumor that Donyell Taylor, who is better known as Bandit and Night Thrasher, might be in the film.
