Old Toon Volume 4 DVD review

Alright so here's a quick little review of the Volume 4 DVD.

Box art - Not that I buy a DVD for box art but this is by far the lazyiest box art I have seen yet, even more lazy then that box art that uses stock photos on the new toon DVDs.

Menus - Almost exactly the same except they added green to the backround. Which is fine cause the new toon DVDs all had the same menu for awhile.

Episodes - Thus far I have watched the first 4 episodes. 3 of those had other people doing the voices for some characters. Raph's stand in was god awful on "Ninja Sword Of Nowhere" I'm glad he didn't talk very often. Don and Bebop were okay on "20,000 Leaks Under The Sea" But I was about fed up with Don's stand in rather quickly and I was sick of it by " Four Musketurtles"

I don't expect Lion's Gate to come back in and re-record their voices or anything, so this isn't their fault. I just don't understand why they did this. There are however, alot less animation errors then on the previous released episodes so that's good.

Anyways so far this DVD is pretty awesome so I would grab it as soon as ya can. Worth the 10 bucks easy.

He's just saying that some of the characters had stand in actors instead of the regular ones for a couple of episodes. I remember this one episode where there was a stand in voice fo Don, and I hated it, but I can't remember what it was called. it was the one where th giant cow kept mutating and Krang wanted to get the two ingredients for making more mutagen.

Greg Berger (spelling?) was the stand in for Barry Gordon as Donatello. I didn't mind actually I thought as a stand in, he sounded pretty close to Barry Gordon's portrayal of Donatello, it took me a few seconds to figure out that it wasn't Barry behind the mike in the first episode that is stnd in premiered. Did any one notice that Bebop's voice was diffrent as well when Barry was gone?

The only thing that irked me was the fact that Dontello's voice was different in like every other episode. I mean man, what was going on that Barry was absent so often? Raphael's voice replacement was terriable, as bad as I remeber it

Did any one notice Krang had a different voice as well in few episodes?

And hey, this dvd release gets league points for actually having all the episdoes in the order that it is listed on the back of the dvd.

UGH! Dear God! That one's on the Disk? The one with the cowabunga/duderance puns all over the place? I'm actually kinda glad I'm 3 disks behind. Still didn't get Vol2 or 3.

too bad they couldn't have gotten the original people to rerecord the voices for the dvds for the eps that had standins. ONLY IF people like James Avery and Pat Frailey and all could still very very accuratly pull off the voices. We wouldnt want the original people to sound so off that it sounds like another standin..lol
