I need to know what are good DS games. I might buy a PSP

I wanted to know what games are really good for Nintendo DS. I have Mario 64, New Super Mario Bros, Wario Ware Touched, Pac Pix, and Mr.Driller DS.

I like these games alot, but I was thinking of buying a PSP. I would still play my DS, I would just have both. Now, before I buy a PSP, I wanted to know what other games I should buy for DS. I know Peanut and ThirdMarioBro are going to go nuts that I am even considering buying a PSP. J/K

Question...

Why own two handheld systems?

That's like getting a PS2 when you already have a GameCube, and vise versa.

Traditionally, to get games available on the other system that aren't available on the one he has, but.....

In this case, what's the point? The PSP hasn't had sh*t worth playing in the last eight months except Burnout and Gradius. Both ports btw.

Now, for DS's other big games. You've already got New SMB. There's a killer right there, but there are many others.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow - One of the most beautiful 2D games ever constructed.

Mario Kart DS: Best in series, and online. Single player is worthy too.

Meteos - Best puzzle game since Tetris Attack/PokemonPuzzle League/Panel de Pon

Metroid Prime Hunters - First handheld FPS that rules, online, free, and EXCELLENT story mode.

Advanced Wars Dual Strike - Best handheld stratagy game in recent memory.

Tetris DS - Only get if you indent to play online. In that case, its amazing. Offline, its average.

Pac 'n Roll - Some people don't like it, but I find it to be a very entertaining track ball arcade style game.

Sonic Rush - Probobly the only kickass Sonic game since Dreamcast died. Excellent, 2D, and fast. If you like New SMB, get this.

Animal Crossing Wild World - Endless fun online or off, but me Peanut, Rhen, JameO, and Gwg have had so much fun online.

As for upcomming games....

Star Fox Command (August) - sh*tty cutscenes, but the game is FUN, and features over 40 story missions, and online co-op and versus modes. Absoulte blast.

Yoshi's Island 2 - Possibly the one game that nobody ever thought to see. AMAZING platforming game on the horizon here.

Diddy Kong Racing - New tracks and characters, plus all the stuff from the original too, online, with a track editor, and all new content. Its not a port. Looks like a blast.

New unnamed Kirby game - Traditional Kirby platformer that looks like a blast to play. You use the touch screen to horde all the powerups that Kirby eats and use them, or combine them to make special attacks.

DS Air - Tenitively titled DS flight game with arcade style controls, and realistic presentation. Published by Nintendo, and is a true competitor against Starfox.

That's the short list. Buy some of that and have fun. I guarntee if you get a PSP, you won't have a lot to play in the comming months. The initial thought of the machine is "Woah, this is impressive", but once the "new gadget" status wears off, you get bored and wind up using it as a video ipod (which I think is its strength with that widescreen, but you need a good memory stick for that feature to be worth a look). Don't get me wrong; its an excellent little handheld, but it's such wasted potential at this point. The machine is great, but developers won't make anyhing for it outside of ports, poor conversions, compliations, and just bad games. Make you own decision, but the DS just has so much more to offer in every department. That's not fan jargon, that's fact.

There's nothing wrong with owning multiple consoles. They offer you different opportunities for gaming (especially the handhelds, because the don't share any games like the consoles might). I had a PS, N64 and DC at the same time, and I have both a PS2 and a Gamecube right now. You can't think of gaming in terms of just something to fill your time with, it's not that way for those of us who are really into it (as I understand Ryo, you're not a huge gamer. Please correct me if I'm wrong). Having multiple systems is favorable for taking in as much of and as varied an experiance in games as possible.

As far DS goes, I only own 4 games. Mario & Luigi 2 waws good, but I actually had to stop playing it because it started to piss me off so badly. The original was far better. If you liked the first one tho, I say give it a try. Definately get Mario Kart and Metroid Prime: Hunters, though. Both are excellent games. (the 4th game is Mario 64, you already have that)

Give Brain Age a shot. It's supprisingly fun, and for $20 and 100+ free Sudoku puzzles you can't go wrong.

Nintendogs is fun too for a while. I haven't personally touched the game since a couple months after buying it, but when I first got it that was the only thing I played.

Feel the Magic is a really awesome game if you liked Wario Ware. I recomend getting the first and second ones.

Yoshi's Touch and Go is a fun little arcade side scroller, one of my favorites.

If you're looking for a more traditional game, and have somehow missed out on it, Resident Evil 1 is on the DS. I hear they did a pretty decent job on it, too.

Polarium is a must buy.

Pheonix Write, if you can find it, is a great game. It's got a minor cult following in the states now. Capcom's store even has it for sale now.

Trauma Center is stupidly fun.

And if you need another shooter, Nanostray (although really easy) was a good way to pass time.

Do you have any GBA games for it yet? If not, I can get a list of GBA titles that you should own too.

Thanks everyone. I'm now leaning more towards not getting the PSP. I have GBA games, I haven't bought any in a long time.

I mentioned it up there and how I had to stop playing because it infuriated me so badly. You're better off just playing the first, which is an excellent game.

I agree, the game is very dissappointing.

Castlevania, Advance Wars and Mario Kart are all solid buys, and don't forget the upcoming Zelda game.

Thank you, Mecha. Seems no one has mentioned The Legend of Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass over the last little while. That'll be a killer app. There's also going to be Final Fantasy III on there(which has some kind of Wi-Fi feature that hasn't been announced yet), Bubble Bobble Revolution, Mario Hoops 3-on-3, Mega Man ZX, Mario vs Donkey Kong 2, the list goes ever on! And this is just stuff coming out in the next few months! I'm sure we'll hear about some other bigs ones soon enough. With the success of NSMB, the sky is the limit for a new Mario game too.

Obviously, go with the stuff everyone else has said. I own Super Mario 64 DS, New Super Mario Bros, Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time, Mario Kart DS, WarioWare Touched!, Sonic Rush, Animal Crossing, Pac-Pix and Kirby Canvas Curse. I don't think anyone mentioned Kirby yet, I could be wrong, but that's another awesome game. You could also get Super Princess Peach, it's pretty easy, but really fun.

The DS is a breeding ground for highly enjoyable, highly inventive games, and it just keeps getting better and better.

The PSP on the other hand...well...mine is sitting on my desk...it's been sitting there for months. I own 5 games for it, and could maybe see myself going back to play one, Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X, and that would only be on a rainy day. There's also zero games coming out for the thing that look even remotely interesting. It's all drop off from here on in for the PSP.

I bring my DS everywhere I go. I even play it at work when no one's looking. There's so many fun games to play, with attention spans ranging from a few minutes, to hours on end. I have almost 20 DS games so far, and I go back and play them all when I get the chance. There just hasn't been a better handheld designed. I've played PSP a few times, and the games never gripped me like the DS games did.

And posting that was pointless. Are you going to stop trolling threads anytime soon, going after her in particular? Cut that out.

On the GBA end, they just made a lot of titles Players Choice. The first Mario and Luigi, for example, is only 20 bucks now. Tales of Phantasia, an excelent game, was released just a couple of months ago.

Drill Dozer is pretty fun too and proves that Game Freaks can do more then make games about catching monsters.

If you ever find a DS game drought, go back and check out some GBA titles. they're usually cheaper then DS games too, and are insanely easy to find used for cheap.

Aw be a little nicer guys, someone who doesn't play games all the time isn't going to see an advantage to owning more then one system.
