Ideal arcade room?

A short visit to the local bowling alley left my friend and I depressed and withered in a profound way. We've all seen ourselves in dingy, run-down, half-assed arcades in the past, right? You know the kind -- where half the machines don't work and the ones that do break down after only a few quarters are pumped in? The sorry state of affairs at this particular bowling alley (where the floor made a funny squeaking sound and the girl working at the counter seemed a pay-cut away from suicide) made me realise that the abuse and neglect of classic arcade machines should be outlawed.

Amid the devastation, I counted that roughly half the machines were either not working properly or completely non-functional. Only one side of the Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 console was in working order, the Ms. Pac-Man cabinet was suffering from some serious screen problems, the Air Hockey table could only manage to register one player's score and not the other...And, to top it all off, they had apparently taken a run-down Super Street Fighter II cabinet (complete with dirt, grime and cigarette burns) and hardwired it to play Marvel vs. Capcom. Ugh...

In any event, I began dreaming about my ideal arcade -- a magical place where all the machines work, the lights are appropriately dimmed and a nice Bon Jovi song plays on the loudspeaker forevermore. And as for arcades, well, there would only be room for the best of the best...

Super Battletoads
The Simpsons
Pac-Man
Ms. Pac-Man

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition
Street Fighter II: Turbo
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers
Super Street Fighter II Turbo

Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat II
Mortal Kombat 3
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

Paperboy
Terminator II: Judgment Day
Bubble Bobble
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
TMNT: Turtles in Time
Mario Bros.
Lucky and Wild

I might add more when they come to mind. What arcade games would you see in your ideal arcade?

My Ideal arcade would have every game. The good, the bad, the ugly, whatever. Can't have 'em all? Don't look at me! I'm just a simpleton.
ACK! The light! It burns! *Burrow*

Cool topic! I would want everything you mentioned Ecto Jedi, with these added:

1. Alien VS Predator the arcade game
2. Jurassic Park arcade game, where you have the gun controllers and shoot the 3-D dinosaurs. It was very fun, and the graphics were good if I remember correctly.
3. Air Hockey table
4. Laser Tag room
5. Go Carts outside

I'd add Sonic 1 to your list Ecto Jedi. Only thing I'd change is there would be no Bon Jovi playing

Add Smash TV, Tekken 1-5, and Soul Calibur 1-3 to the list.

And a whack a gator machine with the mallet.

I'll pretend I didn't hear that.

Oh, and I suppose no gameroom could be complete without a few of the classics thrown in for good measure...

Pong
Asteroids
Defender
Joust

And here are a few more of my personal favourites...

KLAX
Toobin'
Arch Rivals
Hit the Ice
Rampage

That, and a few vending machines. Gaming and candy bars go together like cookies and creme.

That reminds me of an editorial I wrote a while back.

http://wii.advancedmn.com/article.php?artid=6369

I won't be happy until I own a Super Mario Bros Arcade cabinet.

Mmmm.... Candy bars. Drink machines too, we must have Pepsi (or Coke, which ever you prefer). Oh, and how about a claw machine with plush toys? They could all be video game character plushies.

Pinball machines would be cool too.

A snack bar would be very good. Ice Cream, hamburgers, tacos, pizzas, milkshakes....

Hmmm. This is a good thread. Nice one, Ecto. The ones I would personally like to have are...

Original Star Wars Arcade
Any DDR
Dungeons & Dragons: Tower of Doom, Shadow over Mystara
Silent Scope 2
Metal Slug 3
Time Crisis 2
Captain America & The Avengers (Iron Man FTW!)
Marvel vs Capcom
Rampage World Wour
Star Wars Trilogy

I'm sure I could come up with more, but I love these ones the most.

I agree about the soft drinks 100%, but I'm getting really annoyed of pop in cans and bottles. I know I'm not the only one who, once in a while, gets an insidiously mysterious craving for some good ol' fountain pop. Moreover, I'm not a very big fan of claw games, but I agree -- a claw machine with plushies actually worth getting would be a nice addition.

Again, I've never been a big pinball player, but a nice Terminator II pinball machine would be nice. Oh, and one of those Williams Star Wars Episode I video pinball consoles I remember reading about.

Well, ain't nothing wrong with 'dat -- unfortunately, though, most of the machines would probably get covered with pizza sauce and all sorts of goopy sh*t. Still, there's always something to be said about scarfing down a nice slice of pizza while laying the smack down on Street Fighter II.

Both TMNT games
Alien Vs Predator arcade
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Super Mario Bros
Double Dragon 1 & 2 (Anyone who has played the NES versions and liked them will LOVE these, though definitely not 3)
Simpsons
Raiden DX
Aero Fighters 3
Superman
Area 51 (the original)
Classic Rampage
Marvel vs. Capcom 2

There was also one fun game I played back in the day but I don't know the name of it. Instead of a life bar you had HP and it was basically just a normal side scrolling fighting game. Anyone who can identify it I'd appreciate it

Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Tekken 2
Tekken Tag Tournament
Soul Calibur
Bubble Bobble
Donkey Kong
Mr. Do!

Perhaps these would fit in nicely as well...

Rampart
Marble Madness
Street Fighter: The Movie
Killer Instinct 1 and 2
Alien 3: The Gun
OutRun
Centipede
Galaga
Spy Hunter
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer

Oh, and anyone know the name of that monster truck racing game (similar to Championship Sprint in graphics and gameplay) that had steering wheels for control, with room for three players?

Dude, Crazy Taxi! So amazing in the arcade, so lame elsewhere. I remember playing at the arcade until that Offspring song was tattooed to my brain for a month.

Yah-Yah-Yah-Yah-Yah!

Nothing like watching the priest bail out on the asphalt at 60Mph while flying off the cliff under the helicoptor. Wonderful arcade game.

They've got Crazy Taxi in the arcade in my college If no one's said it yet, Time Crisis would be cool too. Pretty easy game but still great.

If I could have one game in an arcade that I don't think actually has an arcade version it'd be Guitar Hero with two guitar controllers.
