COWABUNGA!! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Costume FINISHED - PICS PAGE 6

Hey all,

This has been a dream project of ours for years, and we have finally gotten around to doing it. These are a few pics of the work in progress so you can see what we are up to. The full suit will be done in the next 2-3 weeks, and we'll continue to add progress pictures to this thread for those interested.

We'll also have all 4 of the costumes at Dragon Con, possibly SDCC, and a few other conventions. We are doing movie heads, and another version of the heads as well, which will be unveiled soon as well...probably after the full suit is finally finished.

The mask will be available in cloth, not just the sculpted verrsion, the joints will have leather pads, etc. So, anyway, here are the pics of work in progress...(just started) the hands, and feet...and the head and shell are nearly complete.

More to come, so check back soon!!!!!

Yes, it will be a fully wearable costume, and will be put on much like the movie suits. The mask will not however have the animatronics it had in the movie.

He did say that the costume was like the movie versions, and in those versions the 'mask' parts were sculpted and painted parts of the rest of the mask, while the only cloth parts were the knot in back and the bandanna tails. I'm guessing Xtreme's costume will be similar to that.

To answer the question about the bandana's. In the movie the bandan was sculpted into the head and then a thin cloth was applied over the sculpted bandana to give it that raised look that it has in the movie. The cloth is glued tightly over the sculpt is why you see the wrinkes and detail.

Once done, will the costume be for sale? And if so, where would one be able to purchase it? I know that's a long ways from now, but just a general question. Thanks.

could someone please explain to me the process of turning clay sculptures into costumes? i mean i always thought people used a human sculpture and made a suit around it, not make a sculpture in the suit, cause if you add material over it...all the detail would be on the inside...?

You start with the sculpt. Once the sculpt is finished and dried you cast it by making a mold of the sculpt. Now you have a mold that you would poor the latex material into creating the detailed peices of the costume. Hope this helps

It's the type of project only true dedication and love would see it through to completion.

Some fantastic sculpt work on the limbs, shell and head. Really fantastic.

Should we take the 'frown' as being a sign that you intend to go as Raph? (I'm unaware of any past topics which mentioned this project, so excuse my now knowing which Turtle it's meant to be).
