A list of what they are would be nice. Cause I honestly don't know anymore.

RPG
Action/Free roam
FPS
MMO
Sports
Racing*Kinda sports*
Platformer
Adventure
Survival Horror

is all that comes to mind and with that I'd say action or survival horror

oh my.. a reply already! I haven't hgd time to finish making the poll. I listed a good bunch of popular choices. I also made a "I like em all " if you can't pick any.

I picked role playing because they are my favorite.. I wanted to pick first person shooters but rpgs beat that by a bit.

Sure you don't secretly work for a rising video game company? I saw that Simpsons episode with the Furby like toys.

Yeah, that episode scared the pajeebers outta me... *shudders*

Anyway, I'm gunning for the what I think is classic Action/Adventure and Role Playing games. Action/Adventure is my first pick, since in games like Ratchet and Clank 2, you just run around firing your weapons, while at the same time you have to have a strategy in mind, kind of like the stratagey games, but only you think "Now, do I snipe the idiots or just run on in with my cannon?"

Role Playing is also good, since you can influence how your character grows. Similar to Action/Adventure, but in it's own area at the same time. However, I don't mind what genre it is in the end. Just as long as I can relax, unwind, and try my hand at doing something I really love - pushing buttons and trying not to get squished by a rediculously huge snake

that episode rocked.. not the worst or best christmas episode.. the new season's xmas episode was bad!

No it's good to know what each user's favorite genre is so they can all discuss their favorite games./

My favorite "genre" is the Legend of Zelda since I consider the series its own breed, but I voted action/adventure since that's the closest thing available.

I too voted Action/Adventure. I think 90% of my favourite games are A/As of some sort.

I went for Action Adventure, too. As much as I used to enjoy RPG's, I really don't play them anymore, other than the obvious WoW.

Good games.

If I had to narrow it down I guess I would go with Adventure too.

I was about to pick "RPG" when I noticed that you had Adventure. Well, it's not very often that you get a pure genre game that is role-playing or pure adventure, but I figured the closest to a pure RPG would be D&D, and that's not for me. Based on a technicality, Adventure games are my favorite, by the textbook definition.

...And yes, I have a textbook on videogame design in which the genres are defined.

Also, I think the poll would be more accurate and useful if you allowed users to vote for multiple genres. From that poll, one could show what aspects of gameplay are most attractive to the market, rather than "which genre is teh best?"

The only enres I really play are action/adventure, platformers, FPS, and sports. I little RPG here and there. My favorite genre is by far FPS. Some of my favorite games are FPS.

But like someone said previously 2D platformers are my all time favorite.

First-person shooters. Through them, you can see through the eyes of the killer, and his or her victims. Actually, they're just fun.

I went with action-adventure because that genre is the majority of my game library.

Tough call between platformers, fighting, music-based, and puzzle. I didn't vote on the poll since I don't think I can narrow it down any more than that.
