The OTHER "gang" mutants

So, watching all of the old toon dvds to hype me up for the new movie, today I watched the 5 episode pilot, and i've always noticed this, Shredder mentions that if two mutants can't do the job maybe others will. He then mentions he hasn't perfected mutations yet and we see a screen of the other "gang" members that were with rocksteady and beebop on the first episode turned into mutants.

When Shredder tells Splinter of the retro-mutagen gun he uses one of the new mutants as an example, I always thought that Shredder ended up de-mutating them but later on the last episode of the season you see all of the gang as mutants in a cel, so obviously they are still mutants. How come Shredder never used them?

i wonder what happened to them.

I'm guessing that he just used them for further experimentation.

i've always wondered that my self. I thought the gang members from season one where neat and it would have beenn nice to see them used more in their human form or in their mutated form.

What i found a bit weird is that in season three "the Gangs All Here" Bebop and Rocksteady have an all together diffrent gang that they where apart of from the onethey had in season one

As a kid I was hoping we'd see more of those other gang members. If there are four turtles, wouldn't you want more than two mutants on your team? Wasn't one of them like a bat or something?

I always wondered that too. I always wanted to see more gang member mutants.

YES! It did bother me. I mean that cell/cage was right in the Technodrome control room were we could clearly see them.

I distinctly remember here in the UK there was a colouring book that told the of the story of Turtle Tracks and Shredder and Splintered (with some huge liberties with the story). It did give a name "Scrag" to the Punk Bat that Shredder demutates.

Well I re-watched Season 1 again and it made reminded me of this again. Bumping the topic to see if I get any more replies.

The thing that bothers me most is it does seem like they were intended to do something, or at least they make it look like it from the dialog.

Like I mentioned in my first post Shredder mentions that if two mutants can't do the job maybe more will. Later he mentions how he hasn't perfected the mutation yet and we see all the new mutants. Finally we see Shredder de-mutating gun and turns the bat mutant back into a human. If that had been it we can assume they had been bad mutations and Shredder just de-mutated them all while testing the gun and it would have provided closure...However we later see them all, including the one that got turned back into a human a mutant again, so obviously Shredders gun didn't work very well or he mutated him again. Its a really pointless cameo too all it does is ruin the previous theory only for themt o not be mentioned again.

I wonder what happened to all the human Foot operatives from Season 1.

Remember the ninja's in the pizza shop? The entire city seemed a lot more under the guise of organized crime in the first season.

I also noticed a similarity to the first ep and the comics. In the comics, Saki was a business man selling protection. As soon as he makes a deal with some business men, he prepares his Foot to attack that same company.

Likewise in the cartoon, when some business calls that secretary up for protection... she calls up the Foot and sends them to rob that same company....

Gang

Maybe just some of the gang members were mutated and stayed in the Technodrome.

David Wise had read the first few issues before even being approached to write the pilot season.

I'm surprised they didn't put the Triceratons into the old show until Season 7.

I always imagined them being introduced a lot sooner. I guess they probably felt General Traag and the Rock Soldiers essentially "replaced" them, at least at first.

I agree. I would also like to see them in the Archie TMNT Adventures comics.

Speaking of Bebop and Rocksteady's Gang, I always thought they were the early animated version of the " Purple Dragons" from the original comics.

I love the Triceratons in season 7. They looked alot like the action figure at the time, and were bad-ass. I wish they made more figures of the different Triceratons soldiers in this episode.

It's definatley refering to the Purple Dragons, but that name is never used.
