R.L Stine gets more Goosebumps
http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index...d=43770&type=0
Best-selling youth author R.L. Stine told SCI FI Wire that he will write a dozen more titles in his popular Goosebumps series, which last appeared in 2000 with the 87th book, "Ghost in the Mirror." In the novellas, which blend humor, horror and sometimes SF, teenage heroes and heroines battle and ultimately triumph over a wide array of creepy creatures. "I took a break from scaring kids, but now I'm getting back into that," Stine said in an interview while promoting the Sept. 4 release of the direct-to-DVD title R.L. Stine's Haunting Hour: Don't Think About It. "I've just signed a contract to write 12 new Goosebumps books for Scholastic." The new series, revealed the author, will be called Goosebumps: HorrorLand. "It's a theme park," Stine said. "I'm thrilled. I love doing Goosebumps. It's been a long time. It's my favorite series. So I'm really looking forward to it." The first Goosebumps: HorrorLand title, "Revenge of the Living Dummy," will be released in April 2008.

I read a bunch of em when I was in elementary school and they first came out. I liked the TV series pretty good, too.
Not gonna read these new books since I'm too old for them, but I might check out some of the TV movies. I always did like Slappy.

Also, for those of you who didn't know, Cartoon Network will be showing episodes of the old TV series come October.

Really? Slappy scared the living daylights out of me. I first saw him when I was...I don't know. Six? I mean...well, just look at him. He's a living dummy!
![]() I never got a chance to read the series when I got older and less frightened. Which is a shame, since I probably would have become a fan of the books. I really like the sound of HorrorLand. Creepy carnivals and theme parks are always fun to read and write about. And it sounds like Slappy is going to be coming back, looking at the title. Maybe if I get time I will check the new books out...

That's awesome. They are very popular at my library.
Now if they could come up with more "Choose your own adventure" books, that would rock. Those were my faves when I was a teen.

I could never get into them, all the other kids in my class were reading them in year 6 and 7 when they were becoming really popular but i was already getting into Stephen King by that stage.

Man I remember when "Goosebumps" were really popular. I liked them and I read a few of them. I still have a few in the closet at my moms house. Well I think I do. Some weren't so scary but some did scare me. I remember "Ghost Camp" scared me so much.

Yeah, I remember the "Goosebump" books where you had to take the different route by selecting the scenario and going to the certain page. I used to choose the route that got me killed sometimes. It was an interesting concept, but it was a bit confusing as some times I believe if you take a few wrong routes and get killed, you could end up getting lost in the book by not ever figuring out the right route from where you went wrong. I wouldn't know but some times I thought the character was suppose to get killed and that was the end. I don't think I ever really finished the book. |
