Phantom of the Opera sequel
Andrew Lloyd Webber has done gone and made a sequel to Phantom of the Opera...set 10 years after the first story on...Coney Island... WTF? So now he's the Phantom of Coney Island?? It's called Love Never Dies and premiers in London today and Broadway in November. So far critics hate it apperantly. Im rather curious about the music for it. I LOVE the music in Phantom of the Opera. Especially the title song.
*sings* The Phantom of the Opera is there...inside my mind.... http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100309/...ove_never_dies

I went to see Phantom of the Opera in London a few years back with my ex. It was part of our engagement present from both out folks - return flights to London, stayed there for a week, went to see the show as it was my ex's favourite. It was fantastic - excellent production. I would definitely go see it again. A sequel sounds cool, but I don't think i'd ever go see it...

Love Never Dies is set 10 years later and has the Phantom living in NY on Coney Island operating a new attraction and still pining for Christine. Apperantly Love Never Dies is an adaption of a 1999 novel called The Phantom of Manhattan.

I wish they'd make a TVM of Susan Kay's Phatom; about Erik's life before and during the opera house. It's so good, so engaging...casting would be a pain though.

I agree with Buslady - Susan Kay wrote the best adaptation of The Phantom of The Opera ever! I would love to see a movie of that book.
I'm a huge fan of the original musical (I've seen it in London and NYC), but the thought of a sequel makes me shudder in revulsion ... especially when I learned about the plot. I think Lord Lloyd-Webber has gone a bit "off" in his old age when you compare this to the rest of his musicals. |

I listened to the music from the new Phantom sequel and I was really disappointed I get that it's set in Coney Island, but all the "by the sea" sound effects like random birds was too distracting...not a fan of what happens to the characters either. The original music was just too good to create a follow-up to.
But the new Phantom actor is cute! |

The very idea of it is freaking me out. Can't somebody get an original idea nowadays? I have lots of them. Here have some.
*Hands out original ideas*
