Dan Berger's "Christmas Past" (backup comic)

A two page goodie hot off the press from Dan Berger. A consummate professional and gracious guy, Dan agreed to illustrate this -- nothing more or less than a true gift to the fans. No one was more giddy than I was when I got these pages back from him.

The premise is pretty simple... a solid year passed in Vol. 3 (they celebrated their 18th birthday in #1 and their 19th birthday in #23)... yet we never saw any sign of a Christmas in all of that. Here's a glimpse at that Christmas. Additionally, it also acts as a companion piece to Tales of the TMNT #69.

You can download a .PDF of it in HQ here.

Dan Berger is such an awesome guy. To do this for the fans without getting paid (assumingly), what a guy. I doubt even Peter Laird would have done something like this.

Reading this brings tears to my eyes.

Its so nice to see the Image Turtles act so upbeat despite their injuries, it truly brings it home with the Mirage universe.

That's how I always wanted Donatello to be like in Image, where he still acted like his old self with the cyborg armor.

It really is something that should bring tears to your eyes.

Dan is one of my fav Mirage artists. ( His Casey Jones rocks). And yes from having a few conversations with his I can tell he is a class act. Very cool to see this.

That was wonderful. If someone were to summarize it, I wouldn't believe it was only 2-pages. Berger's quite a guy.

Thanks for making this happen, Andrew! I don't think there's ever been an unenjoyable Turtles Christmas issue.

Lots of fun, gotta love Don hacking up the tree. Dan is cool beans. I was even thinking of having him draw something up for a tat.

That was frickin great. Dan Berger is an amazing guy for doing this. And Andrew - the story itself was lovely. Seriously. Brilliant stuff.

I really like the way Donatello in the cyborg armor looks in Dan's art style. It almost looks...cute.

It really does show the Image Turtles should always be one and the same as the Mirage Turtles. Perfectly interchangeable especially now that we're seeing them in different art styles.

It's funny, though, just how incredibly DIFFERENT Berger's April looks compared to Fosco's April, especially if you slot this story in where it belongs.

You wouldn't think they were the same person.

Of course, Fosco's April was very... uh... "Different" from pretty much any other interpretation of April I've seen.
