Big Update WIP Original Sculpt NECA Shredder Scumbug Granitor

It's been awhile since I posted anything. It's funny I started doing shredder and Tatsu but i became totally stumped on them as i was going along. So after that I started doing granitor and scumbug. I'm still working on shredder and tatsu, but scumbug and granitor are pretty much done.

This is my Shredder, Obviously he isn't done yet but I figured I'd show him. Cause i really like the anatomy sculpt on him. The helmets not all the way done either i need to sand down the crown a bit more. For Shredders body sculpt I copied the anatomy off the sentry figure and black panthor figure. I really like the sculpt.... which is funny because the base figure is sentry anyway. So it's sort of pointless to model the sculpt after the figure I'm using. But i wanted anatomy practice.

The giant hold up with shredder are his damn blades, you cant have a shredder without blades. I've been trying to make armor plates out of apoxie, then use sheet styrene for the blades. But they look like crap, cause they flop around and fall out. I need to come up with a way to stabilize the blades when i put them in the apoxie sculpt. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.

Scumbug was one of my favorite figures as a kid, and i always felt he was just a super well done toy, i like how he's mutating, he isn't like all animal, he's part human and cockroach. I'm really proud of the scumbug sculpt, i think he's probably the most detailed thing I've made so far. I sculpted him with and over an old SMC dardevil figure. Acually it was my old yellow DD custom i reused cause the paint job got messed up and i have a factory one now.

I left off the antenna I'm still going to do them, but figured I'd take a pic withou them. I really like the back sculpt work on his shell. also one of his chin horns fell off so i need to put that on and a wing vein in the back.

*image bogarted from toon screencap thread*

Granitor, is pretty obscuer, but I have to have completed duos, and granitor and traag are a twosome like bebop and rocksteady, tokka and rahzar etc etc... I saw Patraws Granitor and really liked it really made me want to make one. on top of that i LOVE to sculpt rock texture. I took a really big picture of granitor to show off his rock texture, i really hope it doesn't fade away when i paint him.

Granitor was sculpted of a SMC juggernaut figure, I had a hard time deciding how to do the arms because he has these big ass shoulders. I thought the arm articulation would work perfect for granitor, and jugernaut was tall as well, Granitors suppposed to be the tall guy compared to traag. I tried to make him look more like he did in the arcade game compared to the toon version.

I'm also making a tatsu figure out of a ronin figure. The original big hold up with him is his headsculpt. He has a normal head, and I'm not that good at doing normal heads yet, especialy and asian looking one. so i just need more practice. I'l hopefully post him when i finish shredder.

I like the Shredder most, altho all are good. I think sculpting in Scumbug is great, but i really like Archie version over this one. As for Shredders blades, I used hard plastic (taken from broken ballpoint pen) and glued/sculpted them on place. Anything that's hard enough and you can fit in there should do the trick.

Excellent looking stuff all around--it's always good to someone doing some serious resculpting on their custom figures. Granitor looks the most interesting to me out of the trio, although I can see you've put quite a bit of work into Scumbug as well.

Oh man. I'm super-excited to see that Shredder all finished up. Is that a Marvel Legends Sentry, underneath?

Yup, I like all the customs I've seen of shredder using the sentry/wonderman/panther body.
