Have You Ever Been In A Sewer?

If so, what was it like?

I think if it weren't so disgusting, "sewer tours" might have been a good ($$$) attraction during the Turtles craze.

Back in those days before high school i got into a lot of random trouble/mischief. one such example was getting into places that i wasnt allowed, i think you see where im going with this. I remember going into a manhole with a friend on what i guess you'd call a "scientific expedition" where we learned that real sewers are nothing like the spacious, red bricked ones of the OT. Although i didnt see any rats, after a few quick spray paintings we high tailed it out of there. Thinking about it now, i should have taken a tmnt stencil down to spray paint.

A drainage sewer like the Turtles occasionally live in or a sewer sewer?

Back when I was little, I would think that if I went into a sewer, I believed that I may see the actual Turtles in them, so that was my desire to look. Honestly, I've only been in a short tunnel under a two lane road. This was what was accessible to me as if I wandered into the storm drain in which I was too small to lift the cover, I'd get in big trouble from my parents. Even today, I'd only go into a sewer if I find it safe, such as if there is a tourist attraction (I'd like to see Paris's someday).

Great question.
A few years ago i saw one with the hole's cover open.I am 30 now. So i was not a child. I guess there was maintenance work or something like that. The workers had a break. I climbed down a few steps but then decided not to.
The question might be why would anyone want to be there as asked above... but when you love turtles, Leather Head, Croc, Morlocks, all those b-type monster movies and also have a thing for swamp creatures. ( ok sewer and swamp are two very different things but in a city one of the first places that comes to my mind for a hideously deformed creature is a sewer ) a sewer might look tempting to you.
But only looks... no need to test it i guess.

I wonder why i did not try that while i was a child. Probably i was a bit of nerdy for that.

THIS.

When I was a kid, living on a military base, there were tons of drainage ditches and tunnels. My friends and I would crawl through them. One tunnel came out to the curb, and had a man hole. I don't think we ever tried to lift it from the underside...way to heavy.

I seem to remember one time crawling through a tunnel with friends and hearing my mom calling me. I had to frantically crawl over my friends to squeeze out and go home.

I don't think we have a sewer like the turtles hang around here where i live. But I have been in a flooded WWII bunker. dark, smelly, wet and inches from certain death. Fun times, fun times

I used to hang out in the sewer all the time back in '06. My friends & I were always looking for places to do stuff & not get caught.

The closest thing to a sewer I've ever been in is my grandmother's neighborhood in Detroit.

With the housing market as it is, I'm not surprised more people aren't taking to the sewers.

Sewers in movies look so interesting. People go down a man hole to find a "river" with perfectly dry walkways on both side and metal fences. I have a feeling it's not all that beautiful down there...

Never been to a sewer, but if I wanted to see an underground location, it would be The old City Hall Station in NYC

No, but there is a small manhole in the back yard of my parent's house next to the street. When I was a kid I always used to wonder what it was like down there.
