Talking The Anime Thread!

You a fan? What series' have you watched? Currently following one? What's your genre of choice? All that general stuff.

I was hooked on Toonami back in the day, but when its popularity started phasing out, my interest more or less did as well. Just got caught up in school & other stuff. But I watched almost everything on there... Big O, Outlaw Star, Gundam Wing, Tenchi Muyo, Dragonball Z, etc. Plus I was (and still am) a huge fan of Pokemon. After most of 'em went off the air I was into other things, playing music mostly, and anime was the farthest thing from my mind.

More recently though I've been diving into it all over again. When I moved out of state I had to find a few new things to occupy myself with, and after a while some of 'em got stale so I started going to conventions. In doing so I saw how invaluable certain series' were to fans, kinda like (most of) us with the turtles. Plus I realized there was a lot more genres than just giant robot fighting shows (which I find incredibly boring usually). Not long after I got Netflix, which happens to have an extensive selection of anime so I gave a few shows a shot and since then I've been tearing through bunches of 'em one after another. EDIT: Now I have Roku, which runs Crunchyroll & other anime services, which have subbed series' old & new. Much better. I've become a terrible weeaboo since I made this thread years back.

Here's what I've watched so far (as of 7/4/2014) in the order of viewing-

Kiss X Sis
Popotan
Sekirei
Girls Bravo
Shuffle!
Fruits Basket
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World
Clannad/Clannad Afterstory
Angel Beats!
Mushi-shi
Samurai Champoo
Chobits
Elfen Lied
Rosario + Vampire
Highschool Of The Dead
Nabari no Ou
Kokoro Connect
Shugo Chara
Oreimo
Astarottes Toy
Lucky Star
Nichjou
K-On!
My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU
Watamote
Ano Natsu Matteru
Love Lab
The World Only God Knows
Kill La Kill
Hentai Prince & The Stony Cat
My Mental Choices are Completely Interfering with my School Romantic Comedy
Kanokon
Recently, My Sister is Unusual
Squid Girl
Princess Jellyfish
Polar Bear Cafe
Hanamaru Kindegarten
World Conquest Zvezda Plot
Kana Memo
Denki-Gai
Yuru Yuri
Non Non Biyori
Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne!
Humanity Has Declined
Locodol
Barakamon

(Clearly I enjoy fan-service)

So what are you into? Also, anybody got any suggestions of shows to check out based on my preferences? Thanks in advance.

Anime sucks.

...these days it does, anyway. I love the 90's and early 00's, though. It's especially awesome if you turn on the English dub. Hilarity ensues every time.

I am not much of an anime fan to be honest. I watched Pokemon and Dragonball Z like most people did but that was the extent. Never bothered to get into anything else.

I was always more into videogames and Superhero cartoons.

Used to be a big weaboo (for those who don't know, that term refers to an obnoxious anime fan who thinks Japan is the greatest place on Earth and throws random Japanese words into their vocabulary) back in my first two years of high school. I've since grown out of that, but I do like animation in general, so that includes anime as well. The only series I really like are Princess Tutu and Revolutionary Girl Utena. I also love Ghibli to death.

Samurai Champloo and Cowboy Bebop are the only two I own on DVD.

Paranoia Agent was really cool, and a few movies I've seen here and there.

Yeah I love anime
My fav
Gundam Wing
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Naruto/ Naruto Shippuden
Avatar the Last Airbender

Other good anime tv series/movies
Samuria X-M
G-Gundam
One Piece
Dragon Ball/Z
Bleach
Rurouni Kenshin
Tri-gun
Digimon 1st season
Zoids
Ronin Warriors

Others that I watched and suggest, these r not known by many, but I found to be better than some of the most popular anime!!!
Please Teacher
Gunslinger Girl
Peace Maker
Death Note(That I still have not freakn finished)

I gotta say the three below are excellent anime's but the only reason they aren't my favorites is bc the r short and left me to desire more which pissed me off. lol But I Highly suggest any anime lover to watch these series

I know this thread is a little old but I just have to know something real quick. Is Deathnote any good? Because that L character seems interesting and I think I might watch it.

Death Note is good, but there are some plot holes in it. The story, while it tries really hard to be believable, the main character has the most durable plot armor I've ever seen in my life.

Death Note is pretty great. It's one of my favorites actually. (I Even own a replica of the Note Book.) It's a psychological Anime with a mix of the super natural more than anything so if that's your thing, you'll dig it.
