How do we all feel about this

I mean this is the third time TMNT has been returned to TV and the second time in a completely different version. And since none of us is who we once were when TMNT first came to be how does everybody feel about it on a personal level

I'm totally stoked! Everything we have heard sounds great and I can't wait to see what new adventures the Turtles will go on this time!

Well i am excited. When the 03 show debuted I hated it, being 14 years old i was at that age when tmnt was "uncool". And it didnt seem to live up the the fond memories i had of the OT. But since then ive immersed myself in all of the comic books and have revisited the series a number of times. I found that it was really MUCH better than i had ever given credit for. I really enjoy it now.

So with a new show about to air, and a few more years under my belt, Im ready to keep an open mind and embrace the new turtles. Im excited and extremely happy that TMNT has experience this recent revival and i cant wait to see where they go next

Mixed feelings really.

Some things that we've heard or seen about the series gives me major pause while other things sound cool or promising so I'll try and go in with an open mind.

Something else I feel I should point out is that if all the post Nick buyout versions we'll get this may end up as my favourite version of TMNT by default.

Its obviously not as exciting as when the 4kids show was debuting. Back then it was just a huge event that the Turtles were coming back with a new cartoon in the first place. To see the stores filled with TMNT toys again and a new cartoon...it was unbelieveable.

That and when the first episode aired back in Feb 2003...I was blown away. It was much better than I expected and the show only continually impressed throughout its run. Even in its weaker seasons (FF and BTTS), it still remained enjoyable for the most part.

With the Nick show I am more cautious because:

1. Its CG. That alone makes me fear for the animation and design, I much prefer 2D cartoons.

2. Nick owns the franchise without Peter Laird's supervision, so its possible we might get some insanely stupid stuff happening.

3. Its the third TMNT show, and has to live up to unreasonable high expectations from the people who loved the original cartoon and 4kids series.

4. Shredder's design looks a bit off, teenage April could go either way, and some of the new mutants look lame.

So I hope for the best.

It means that while I've generaly enjoyed the IDW series it has yet to impress me and naturaly I'm very cautious about were the movie is heading. On balance it seems I'm looking forward to the new cartoon more than future issues of the IDW series or the movie. (Of course that may change as we learn more about each)

I actualy think it's kinda ironic that despite the initial marketing of the IDW series as being like the early Mirage books it seems far off the mark and a movie which began as a Batman Begins-esque reboot of TMNT is also looking to be far off that mark. Of all the post buyout versions this show looks like it could be the version that is truest to it's source material.

In many ways it seems like what you would imagine the Fred Wolf show would've been early in its development. A light hearted comedic take on the first handful of issues of Mirage issues.

The problem is some people wrongly assumed IDW was going to be like the Mirage books, mainly because they heard Eastman was with them and they had red bandanas at the beginning.

While I agree the IDW series hasn't done anything amazing yet, its remained fairly enjoyable and there isn't anything that happened in it that I truly hate, so that's good news.

OH!!! I get you Galactus, of the Turtle media from the relaunch, this will be your favorite by default. When I first read it I saw it as, "The Nick buyout negates all of all the previous incarnations I may have loved." which made me go, "Um, no...what?"

I don't think we wrongly assumed it. When they first got the license we were told that they wanted it to be like the Mirage comic. It was easy to believe when we heard of Kevin Eastman's involvement and saw the red bandannas and the early art gave a very early Mirage feel. What we ended up with is something which is only superficialy like the Mirage version and even that seems to be fading fast.

That's not to say it's bad but I do feel they pulled a bit of a bait n' switch on us. I do look forward to when they got to something truly original. So far the best issue I thought was the reincarnation one

Yep. That's what I meant. I should have been clearer in my original post.

Andrea Romano makes the show worth checking out.

This. She seldom disappoints. And considering some of the cast has worked with her before, it should be good

While there are some things I'm leery on (like teenage April) I'm still excited to see how this show pans out. I'm excited for the voice cast because I'm sure they'll do a great job with the voices, so I can't wait to hear them and see how they bring life to the Turtles.

I'm very excited. So far, I've seen things that I love, and things that I hate, so I can't wait to see how it all plays in the show. Overall, I've got really high expectations about it.

I remember crearly when the 2K3 show came out, and it felt like a dream come true. I quite enjoyed it for the most part, and it was nice to have all sorts of TMNT stuff around one more time.

Since this new show is coming from a whole different scenario, I'm still not too sure of what to expect, wich is a good thing for me. With the 2K3 there were too many times when I found myself comparing the show to Mirage, and it made it harder to enjoy at times. With Nick, that's probably not gonna happen at all, and I'm somehow glad.

As long as they don't mess up the basic things, the animation is good and it's well written, I think I'd be able to love any kind of stuff.

My biggest concern is how the CG will effect fight scenes and the like. I know the CG looks better but still its a shame its not a cartoon.

CG looks very dated after awhile and I fear 10 years from now the show will look really rough-shot, like those old CG shows from the 90's.

That's one of my biggest concerns when it comes to CG. I'm not opposed to it, but I tend to prefer traditional animation. However, I think they've done a pretty good job with the modeling style, and the characters design looks pretty cool, despite the horrible three toed feet.

I'm not too fond on Shredder though, but I have to see him in motion.
