03 Casey Jones...articulated
So, I realized that my Nick Turtles were skewing far too close to realism, since I had several Walking Dead figures and such, but that was never my intention. I preferred my Nick line to be a bit more animated in appearance, I have the Movie Turtles if I want realism.
Anyways, in my quest to find a decent Casey, I finally realized that the 03 figure was the best for that aesthetic, but he suffered from pre-posed-itis, and I just couldn't deal with that. Sometimes minimal articulation is fine, but his pose was just not workable. So, what do I do? I decide to splice in some joints to allow a more mobile Casey. Basically he has wrist, shoulder, elbow, knee, bicep and ankle movement now. So how to pose that? Simple, have him opening a soda. So, now to get working on my animated looking cast again, and steer away from too much realism. Casey can sit...mostly... Fist bump. Ya hit like a girl, Raph. Sadly, I have no accessories to pair up with Casey. I will probably attempt to make at least a mask, but we shall see. For now, I just need a Casey to join in the group. |

Wow! Those are amazing. He looks really great. How do you add joints in without utterly f*ing him up? And does it make him shorter? That would be ideal if I could get one customized like that.
Edit: Is that poster in the back for the movie Ninja Assassins? LOL, I bought that film not too long ago, and loved it!!

Yeah, that's the poster alright. I kind of view that film as a loose origin of. Hamato Yoshi and Oroku Saki, because I'm weird like that.
As far as splicing joints, it was actually pretty easy. I literally replaced shoulder to wrist by removing Casey's and replacing then with a Marvel Legends Constrictor. The legs were harder, having to make equal size cuts from Casey and Constrictor. Super glue, Milliput, sanding and painting to blend things better. No, he's not shorter, but technically he is scaled correctly with the Nick Turtles of he's 6 foot and they're less than 5 (which they are supposed to be). I always thought he'd work well, but I hated his pre-posed stance. |

If memory serves, they are all supposed to be betweet 5'2" and 5'5", but close enough. Casey did always seem pretty tall, though.
I'm not sure I'm confident enough to try that, honestly, especially given my limited budget for buying figures. Seems a waste to buy em and then gut em for parts when I have a hard time getting my hands on them as it is. Any suggestions? Also, I like that idea about the origin, I might have to watch it again for some inspiration....

I remember seeing it in theaters, and I knew it seemed eerily familiar.
