The first movie was hot garbage, I don't have much faith in this one.

Then again we haven't had a single "good" Jurrassic Park movie since the original, so I guess it's par the course by now.

I remember liking the Lost World a lot more than the first one. But I don't think I've seen it since I was a kid in the theater.

Lost World and 3 were far worse than the original. Decent at best just for the action.

Jurassic World was just so bad, I couldn't believe how awful it was. And this is coming from someone who was hyped for it.

Jurassic World is what Lost World/3 should have been.

Lost World was all over the place and 3 was just a generic dinosaur movie. Which was fine but the plot with the kid was just stupid.

I think it still has its moments... both impressive and terrible. Spielberg still directs some intense scenes and uses a lot of practical effects in combination with the cgi. And then you have silly scenes between parents and a kid saving the day with impractical gymnastics. I guess Spielberg was big on that kind of thing in the 90s.

I liked Jurassic World plenty even with its flaws and I'm really looking forward to the sequel. JP is one of my favorite franchises so it's awesome to see it revived. Will any movie come close to the original? Of course not, it's a classic that finishes telling its story by the end of it.
Are sequels still cool regardless because this universe has living dinosaurs on an island? hell yeah!

The Lost World JP : A bit of a disappointment to me since it has so many cool ideas but the movie doesn't execute them well and it ends up lacking, I hate the t-Rex in the city segment. Plenty of redeeming features that make it worth watching to me even if it blundered a bunch of possibilities.

Jurassic Park ///: Indeed a generic dinosaur movie but set in Jurassic Park, but that's my thing and it's awesome for it. I hate the military ending (redeemed in JW) and that Allan/Ellie didn't get married. I like it more than TLW for the fact that it never sets high expectations and it delivers in the basic premise it sets out to do.

Jurassic World: Re-creates scenes from the original with a new twist and that new twist made watching it pretty fun. Nothing groundbreaking but it does a good job. I hate the superhero-esque T-Rex vs Indominous Rex fight at the end.

All sequels have a few flaws but I enjoy them almost equally, there really isn't one I hate. Now that it's been confirmed that the rumored Jurassic War film that JW kind of sets up isn't happening I'm a bit relaxed they won't f-ck it up.

So yeah I'll enjoy the fun sequels even if they'll never hit any of the high notes of the original, they're still fun, I kind of wish we'd gotten a "park clean up" movie but I guess it'll never happen. Now the only thing that could surpass the original movie is if after the Jurassic World trilogy they reboot the series a few years later with a remake of Jurassic Park that stays true to the original novel, it would be the only way to remake Jurassic Park without it being in the shadows of the Spielberg classic. They can make a sequel with TLW's true to the novel adaptation and that both would have to be rated R if they're true to the books making Andrew happy so we all win.

O_O

Wow. I was under the impression that none of the original cast were too interested in returning to the franchise.

All 3 have always been open to returning but they just don't thin they would be called back.

I'm super excited, this movie also seems to be more of a dark thriller/horror movie so at least they seem to be doing something different.

Jurassic Park really is my new "Star Wars" in terms of excitement, the whole eagerly awaiting for the new movie coming out 3 years later.

Cool. I like Jeff Goldblum. I hope it's more than a quick cameo.

An insider in a JP forum basically confirmed it's not a cameo but he's actually part of the cast and no Sam Neil in this movie. Crossing my fingers for Sam Neil in JW ///.

We're apparently also getting a JW Survivor game for consoles and PC which should be announced soon and the JW comics also start this year, it's a good time to be a JP fan. Tough times from 2002 until before JW was finally announced.

Just read JW2 might not take place on an island. So that would make more sense for him to get involved somehow. I mean because the notion was they wouldn't purposely return to an island with dinosaurs.

I really hope it deals with either 2 separate parks which I think was mentioned or the mainland.

No I'm pretty sure they said they were going back to the island for a scene or 2.

That would be beyond ridiculous. They just re-open the park a couple of years after the first one, like in JW, and that's JP2? JW is like a less-interesting requel of the first one. It only barely works because at this point it's been like 20 years since the first one, making it somewhat believable.

Sidenote: why is everyone calling the new movie JW2? It's clearly Jurassic Park 5, more evident than ever with their bringing back Malcolm now. I doubt "World" will even be in the title.

Because its not Jurassic Park 5 in name, and Malcolm has a supporting role as opposed to being the main.
