Seriously though, it'd be nice to know something other than "Magic Powers", "More Comedy", "2D" and "Looks kinda like Bayturtles". That's all we know after seven months.

Especially since most of that stuff could turn out completely wrong or changed upon when the show comes out. I remember half the early reports of the Nick cartoon turned out a bit different when it aired.

An acquaintance met Billy Martin (who did some art on the Nick series comic books) at NYCC today, he revealed he's working on the new cartoon & said "If you liked Samurai Jack, you'll like this". No idea if that means the visual style or the tone or both but it's something to ponder.

Given that the new show is supposed to be more childish than the 2k12 show, probably it will be the visual style.

Let's hope that this show tries to treat Michelangelo's character with proper respect.

My boy needs it.

Definitly agree, there hasn't been a show yet that's given the character the justice he deserves

As someone rewatching the Nick show now, Raphael was handled very well in the first two seasons. He got a ton of episodes in the first season also co-starring with Leonardo as the second leader (the A and B Turtle team episode) in multiple eps, and Raph was also the main star of Slash's debut episode, the first episode Casey Jones meets the turtles properly (it was a Raph/Casey ep), and the "follow the leader" episode with Leonardo. He does get less episodes from Season 3 onward.

As for Michelangelo, he'll probably always be the designated comic relief character especially in cartoons aimed at kids. I liked a lot of his episodes in the Nick show, but he did get flanderized from Season 3 onward. Same thing happened to Casey really, he started off fairly entertaining in Season 2 but then got dumber as the show progressed.

Either way it's the only bright light in all the darkness IMO and makes me feel a little bit interested in Rise

At this point a TMNT cartoon similar to Samurai Jack sounds like the most positive thing so far, and I'm not even that huge a fan of Samurai Jack although I did enjoy it.

I thought the story telling for Samurai Jack was pretty solid but I wasn't crazy about the simple blocky art style.

Never watched that series, only seen images. Visually speaking... so-so on the art style, but still has the part that bugs me most... that flat, nearly/fully shadowless coloration that is used so much on Nick and elsewhere now. Dear god, 'Rise,' please don't be practically neon colored like some of them too... (Or that one set of shorts we keep seeing.)

Not that flat coloration hasn't always existed and works in some cases, esp in the days before Flash. Just much prefer TMNT with more detailed coloration and normal tones, not... well... 'Team Up' type coloration.

Yeah, there's just no accounting for taste, because that flat, highly stylized, bold line work animation is my favorite. It animates so smoothly.

I wouldn't hate it if TMNT Team Up became Rise of the TMNT

Looks like something will be shown during the Brand Licensing Europe in London this week.

In additional to their extensive portfolio, Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products will be giving partners a first look at Nickelodeon's reimagined Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The new 2D TMNT series will have its worldwide premiere in 2018, and will be supported by a global marketing plan.
Not sure if we will get to see it though.

I posted that a few days ago.

I expect someone will end up leaking something from that event.

I was concerned for a moment with all the pre-school and Nick Jr talk but then it moved on to say 'in addition' to that portfolio when it mentioned the turtles

If that's how it's going to look?

Not sure i'm going to bother watching this one. it's going to have to REALLY wow me.

although I did like that 2D animated thing that was done this year...i'd like to see more like that.
