Looking for a Reading Recommendation
I am a history buff and occasionally I like to broaden my knowledge of different events or eras in history. One era I want to expand understanding on is the often overlooked extensive time of The Middle Ages also known as Medieval Period and The Dark Ages. However, I cannot find anything truly catching and wanted recommendations on the period if any of you have any. Thanks in advance for reading recommendations. I wanted to find time in December to read some.

Are you looking for straight history? Or is historical fiction acceptable?

Have you ever been through Chaucer's Canterbury Tales? It's an interesting look at how the world was back then. Being fictional accounts (albeit FROM the time period), it may not completely hit the mark. But it would be interesting to weigh the details in the stories against straight historical analysis.
