BF1942

Anyone here plays that game? I've been playing it for over a year now and I've gotta say that it's probably one of the best games ever made. Not only is it historically accurate and detailed with respect to the maps and weapons, but the gameplay is amazing too. Very realistic handling of guns and tanks. It can be quite addictive too, especially if you have lots of people in one game.

Those are pretty good. Personally, I'm particularly fond of Market Garden and Kharkov, they're both good depending on what type of game you want to play. Hmm, doesn't seem like many people here are interested in WW2.

I've been playing it since it came out...Same with tons of other WW2 video games. I was actually on a team that was in a national tournament for this game. It was played at game centers and I was on the team for the local one. We lost in the third round tho. Atleast we got a free magazine subscription.

Hate to bring this back up, but have either of you played the Forgotten Hope mod?

I'd play the game, but I'm a cheapass. I'd have to get it off the 'net to play it. It looks incredible, though.

Oh please. God knows you have spent easily over a 7 million dollars on online gaming.

That's because you can't download those, since they ask for unique CD-Keys that can't be generated. Plus, I never paid for the online fees. My mom did.

Essentially it makes the game more histrorically accurate. You get to fight on tons of new maps, plus the original maps have added features such as 88s, Howitzers, and mortars. You operate tons of new vehicles and firearms that weren't in the game before. The uniforms are all different, and everything is accurate for each battle. http://forgottenhope.bf1942files.com/info.html

Talking about it really doesn't do it justice, you need to download it and see for yourself.

That's definately worth trying. The more accuracy in this game, the better. Did you ever play that expansion set with the "never-before-seen" weapons? Not that I'm really advocating it though, since it kind of defeats the purpose of BF being a WW2 game.

No, I never have played the expansion that has the "secret weapons" or whatever. You guys really need to download Forgotten Hope though. I can't imagine playing the game without this mod anymore, it's that good.

You've really caught my interest, Matt. I'll try and download it tonight and get that mod set up, see what it's like.

Well, supposedly it's being ported to the Mac...and I'm not a huge computer game player, but if the systerm req. end up being decent, I may pick it up.

Be forewarned, it's a confusing download (for me anyway) There are apparently two versions of the Forgotten Hope mod, and you will need the newest one. There are also three different files you will need to download, and you have to install them in order or it won't work. Another problem is finding servers that are hosting Forgotten Hope. Filtering the server names with "FH" seems to bring up a few.

I'll try out this mod when I get my own copy of BF. Right now my computer is too crappy to run that game and will probably explode if I install it, so I kind of have to play it at Net Cafe's and LAN's right now. Can't really install things on their computers.
