I just have to say that Peter Reneday's voice for Splinter was the best. Even though Splinter was Japanese, Reneday's (what kind of accent was it anyway?) English/American (not sure!) accent was almost perfect and has never been better since.
He was very good at playing an emotional Splinter.
His voice sounds like an old man, because Peter Reneday WAS AN OLD MAN! Well, middle-aged at least!
The New cartoon's sounds like a young man doing an old man's voice.( that's what it seems like to me).
Splinter movie voice-over was done by Kevin Clash, who also did Elmo from Sesame Street. A good voice but made him sound frail. Too much emphasis on old age!
Then there's the Next Mutation voice-over.
Also, is Peter Reneday still alive today? How old's he now? He was one of the best voice actor's in the original cartoon, don't you think? A very talented cast all-in-all!!!
Peter renedy and the new toon splinter is a tie in my books. In the old toon, a lighter tone of the new series, splinter does not displine them or yell at them as much as the movies or new show, but has a good voice and sounds like a wise person. The new toon splinter's voice fits the tone of the series, sounding more serious.
I hated the 3rd movie splinter the most!!!!!!!

Original, hands down.

New Toon. He sounds more "Japanese" than the other voice actors (especially the first one) mostly in the way he pronounces everything. His voice seems to be based on the movie voice from parts 1 and 2 (not 3), but I like him better.
The original toon voice was alright back then but Splinter seemed much younger. I prefer him as an old man.
I liked the Splinter from TMNT the first movie best. Peter Renaday comes second, he did a very good job also. The new toon's one is kind of okay, he sounds too young in my opinion....should be a little older. The Next Mutation one was okay, but TMNT 3's voice actor is absolutely awful! Totally pitiful!

Darren who does Splinter's voice in the New Series is actully no more than 26 from his looks. If you seen the Making of the Series on the first 4 DVDs.
Course anyone can do a good job in voice acting including imating a mid-age man.
I vote Darren's role for Splinter & the Movie one as well.
I think Splinter sounds better in the new toon. But I like Kevin Clash's voice from the first two movies as well.

Tell me if this is just bullsh*t, but I heard that the original voice of Splinter in the old toon was a 7 foot-tall black guy who also did the voice of Elmo on Seseme Street.
Fact or Fiction?

I can't hear any of them in my head right now except the original toon's voice, so i will vote for him. the worst splinter voice is the episode donatello's duplicate where his voice was replaced.

It's really close between Peter Renedy (old toon) and Darren Dunstan (new toon) - like, REALLY close. But I'll pick Darren because I like his version of Splinter slightly better.

Actually I can't really vote since I like all of them! I never had a problem with Splinter's VA! U should put a choice in that says "All of them!"

i love Splinter's voice today. The only thing is, I was actually kinda dissapointed at first when I found out that Darren was our age. I know it's stupid, but I liked the idea that splinter may have been voiced by an actual old Japanese man.
I've come to be accepting of it though. :tpizza:

I agree. They were all excellent.
They were all excellent except for the voice from TMNT 3. It just wasn't the same as the others. It didn't have the right feel to it.

I like both FB Splinter and movie 1/2- Kevin didnt voice him in 3.
in the movies he was an older rat who seemed to be beyond his years of taeaching the guys anymore and just kinda lectured all the time hehe...

Well, in the movies, Splinter's performed by Kevin Clash who also does Elmo on Sesame Street, Clifford for the Muppets, and taken of the role of Sam the Eagle for when Frank Oz can't do any Muppet productions.

well....this is a tough one...i like the original toon and Kevin Clash from tmnt 1 and 2......but i don't like 3 (since it's not him)......it's the worst in MHO. so i'll vote Kevin Clash....cause we share a name and i love Mupptes....he was also baby dinosaur on the Dinosaurs.... "I'm the baby gotta love me!!!"

He DID?!??! I remember watching the show, but I never caught that poster!! Ahhh!! If anyone has a pic, I'd love to see it!
I agree that TMNT3 VA just didn't sound right, too high-pitched..something. The inflection wasn't bad but it just didn't sound right in comparison. Otherwise they all tie with me, possibly 1 and 2s VA being slightly higher.

"Dinosaurs" Rocked!! That was made in the mid-nineties or something. The baby had a cult following!
Does anybody know if Peter Reneday is still alive? And what age is he? i don't know if he's been doing any recent cartoons. I'll see if i can check it out myself. But answers would be appreciated!
I hated the baby. I liked Earl better.

Peter Reneday was born on June 9th of 1935, so he actually just turned 69 years old. I believe he is still alive - According to a bio I've read he recently did some voice work for the English version of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty as Col. Richard Ames. That list of work goes up to the year 2002 though, so it's possible he's just not had any work since then. But no, I don't think he's died yet.
