who else noticed that mikeys shell was a little lower than the rest to show he was younger

I always thought he seemed like the younger one that doesn't quite know what he wants (him or Raph heh)...but I figured if they were all brothers from a pet store they'd probably be in the same group hatching and thus be the same age except by maybe a couple seconds or something depending who gets out of the shell first.

But I never noticed that about Mikey's shell. His face was what made me believe he was younger. He had a genuine childlike feature. That, and his voice was a giveaway, too.

could be they're a few days apart too...takes a long time for turtles to fully come out...they'll stay in long enough to absord the yolk sac even...

as for ages:

Raph looks older to me, I think it'd be interesting that if he was..and he's NOT the leader(because of his issues) but the second oldest one is.

Their ages are documented on the original Filecard son the back of the figures packaging and I'm pretty sure Mike is either the second or 3rd oldest or even equal second. If you follow the old show at least I can assure you he's not the youngest.

EDIT: just did some research and here are the ages.

Mike= 15 and a half years old
Don= 15 years old
Raph= 15 years old

I've always seen it like that too. I think it might have to do a little with the old series theme song. "Leonardo leads, Donatello does machines, Raphael is cool but rude, Michaelangelo is a party dude". To me it seems like it was going by order of age. In any case, there personality and character and the way they they present them selves and deal with things says alot too. Leonardo is not only the most mature one, but he seems to have a bit more life experience than the rest of the guys. Donatello seems to be able to relate to Leonardo in that level. Raphael is not as developed as Leo and Don in maturity and taking care of ones self, and he has a lot to learn to. Michaelangelo is rather naive to the dangers of the world and relys on his brothers to look out for him and take care of serious situations.

Well here we have two conflicting pieces of information, those ages came from the old toys, but Mikey was youngest in the movie, I tend to think as newer vbersions of Information come out, they should be what we go by. Then again the movie is basically an alternate reality. So I would tend to go by the new show, which states they're all fifteen years old.

That the way I like to see them as well and indeed the way I make them in my fanfiction. But I have always seen it as Leo the eldest, then Don, then Raph and then Mike, but who knows.

I myself haev always seen Raph as the odlest. Leo seems wisest but his nobility and undying sense of doing whats right is also a naive factor of youth. Raph doesn't see that as always the best choice.

Interesting... I like the idea of Mikey being second oldest. It makes his goofiness seem a little deeper than just 'well, he's the young one he doesn't know any better!'

If they're entire year/half-years apart, are they really brothers? Are they from the same hatch...group..thing... ?

Do we have any definitive source for what their ages would be in the new show? Or any other sources about the movies (if Mikey's youngest..what does that make the other guys?)?

In '88, it said the turtles were born in Different states and somehow found their way into the same petstore. In the comics (I think both Mirage and Archie), it's mentioned that they were hatchlings together.

Anyway, I like what one of the members here said: Their ages depend on which version of the story you go by. That makes the most sense to me. Weren't they 18 or 19 in the Next Mutation?
