Well, guys, what do you think? I know some of you out there have very specific opinions on this.

The the beginning of the "Red Sky" episodes started in 1994. Then, during the 1995 season and 1996 season, the "new mutations" storyline kicked into effect.
The last three years of the show, 1994-1996, were "Red Sky" episodes.

Even though I love all the seasons, for me it's a tie between the 1989 season and the 1990 season. This was when the show really kicked it into high gear, and when its popularity soared.
Some make the argument that CBS ruined the show. I don't think so; I think they just tinkered with it and made it better. They expanded the show.
A show that was able to pump out 193 episodes must have been doing something right.

the first one and the red sky ones before the shredder left. the stories were great when they redid it, but when they added carter & dregg, lost shredder & crew, and they all started mutating it got stupid.

actually, i thought the mutating added a certain intrigue and depth to the storyline. and they could only fight shredder for so long, you know.....

Ratings began to decline in 1993. The Turtles were no longer drawing the viewers like they used to. So the writers, in an effort to pump some energy into the declining franchise, decided to shake things up a bit.
We'll get rid of the humor. We'll make it darker and edgier. We'll make the Turtles darker, and we'll get rid of all those *annoying* side characters over the years.
It worked at first. Ratings in 1994 jumped considerably from those in 1993. But then a deathwish floated over the series, so silent and sneaky that no one saw it coming.
Shredder and Company got dumped. Axed. Tossed. A new bad guy was brought in - Dregg.
Bebop and Rocksteady? Forget about'em. They were losers, anyway. Let's introduce some more serious bad guys.
Techno-what? No, no. We're going with the Dreggnaut.
We need a human in the show. April's kind of alone now that Irma and Vernon and Burne Thompson quit the show, disgruntled over their salary pay. We'll introduce Carter, some brainy college kid who apparently has nothing better to do with his time than spend it with four overgrown Turtles and one giant rat.
We need the Turtles to go through trials. Some tribulations. They need to suffer. We're talking soap opera stuff here. They were always so happy and hip before, and that was boring. How about we make'em freaks? How about we make their mutations unstable? Wouldn't it be cool if they mutated into these, like, big lumbering goons with the strength of 10 Turtles and the intelligence of 10 paper clips? Oooh, and we have to add some tension here, too. Let's make them clumsy. That will add suspense!
Doesn't really sound like the Ninja Turtles, does it? What do you think of when someone mentions the Ninja Turtles? Do you think of Dregg and Carter and those wacky mutations?
Or do you think of Shredder and pizza and that cool theme song?
It's no wonder the fans sent Dregg and his cronies packing after only two seasons.

Or do you think of Shredder and pizza and that cool theme song?MOST would think of the latter, but only for one of two reasons:
1. They were young when the series premiered, so they regarded it as a kids show, not a comic item, and thus outgrew it by late elementary school age and thus never heard of Dregg
2. They weren't true fans. Like a lot of conformists do, in fact they've only seen about a few episodes here and there and thought it stayed like that a long time.
I used to fit into the first reason. To be honest, I never heard of Dregg until only about a month or so ago...give or take a month
I also used to think the episode where the portal was blown up for good was the series finale. And, I'm not lying, I swear I never saw the "Red Sky" intro before in my life until I downloaded it about 3 weeks ago.
Oh yeah, back to the poll. It was a close call between seasons 2 and 3, but the one with more episodes had to win, so I voted season 3. Like someone said, it was at the peak of its popularity.

Ah here's a more intresting poll!!! But its deffinitly '87 for this turtle!! Evrything was perfectly balanced between fight scenes and goofiness that season, it was great!!!

During the first season they were funny *and* intense.

Actually, I didn't forget about Season 10 . . . it just got hacked off for some reason. I have tried resetting it, but I guess inserting Season 10 is just one choice too many.
Oh, well. I don't think you're going to get too many votes for Season 10 anyhow. Although, personally, I liked it better than Season 9.

I'm sure it was Sarnoth... that's how it's spelled in the dutch subs and the spell names the same as the American's do... besides, the official sites episode guide is full of errors and a flawy order.

I'm sure it was Sarnoth... that's how it's spelled in the dutch subs andThat doesn't mean it's right. You just said so yourself, SUBTITLED. There are actually quite a few errors in translations. It was an unknown word to them, so they translated it how they thought it sounded in THEIR language. Besides, you can't question an OFFICIAL site; it's called OFFICIAL for a reason. Another thing: "Sarnoth" neither looks nor sounds alien enough. "Zarnov" looks more like it was spelled in an alien language than "Sarnoth".
I don't even know why we're having this argument; it's a gibberish word.
Nickokapo
10-18-2002, 06:48 PM
Um..."official" stuff can have many errors...just look at the official tmnt movie 1 press kit, it's FULL of errors ( http://undermanhattan.com/in-house/articles/020522-presskit/default.asp )
And i like sarnoth better than zarnov so i'll call it like that :P
Argh...i can't pick, all the seasons were great.

Of course the the first season is the best. It had really cool fights and one continous plot that made it like a miniserie. Later seasons pretty much lots that. And im currentlu watching season 6. So far i think it's much better than 4 or 5.

im still gonna have to say that the red sky seasons have the series a flavor and depth that wasnt seen before except for the first season.
and, in case your wondering, those 'stupid mutations' idea was in fact eastman and laird's (albeit an adaptation of the original mutation schemes)....

It can be called the official site cause they want it to be called that but that doesn't mean it's not gonna have errors. Here's an official site error example. The European vacation is 1992 season not 1993... if you care to challenge me, you will lose and I will win cause I have all the european eps on tape edited versions of USA or not and they all say copyright 1992 at the end of the credits so HA beat that! And I hope to check the spelled of Sarnoth or Zarnov when I get the incredible shrinking turtles vhs and turn on captions... even though the captions has errors as well.

I guess that all seasons are rather good. 1987 is cool. But it seems to me that turtles are not perfect there... they are more pretty in other seasons.what do you think?
By the way whi is that creepy Dregg! I thought that it was an evil guy from the episode:Mickelangelo meets the bugman. but my friends told me that it was not him.... How does he look like?
Zarnov... sounds like russian surname.lol

I don't know exactly where dregg comes from because i haven't watched the red sky eps yet, but i'm almost sure he comes from another galaxy in outer space, like the uk or pakistan
And i agree, he's so awful :sweatdro: but then again, they had shredder for almost every season...he even appeared in some red sky eps, so a new enemy isn't so bad, afterall he was only for like...2 or 3 seasons.

Dregg is an intergalatic conqueror that just nearly escaped from a prison in the beginning of Season 9. That's all that's mentioned that I can remember... Although the Unknown Ninja was a pretty bad ep... I give it 5.5 out of 10. I don't want to put a spoiler on how Dregg was defeated that someone doesn't want to read so I'm gonna attempt to write it so you have to highlight it to read it... Meh I can't figure it out.... I don't know what to tell you ppl :P
