I bought this awesome tmnt shirt the other night. It actually looked like it came out of the comic and not any of the tv shows, which is why I got it. My question is this: it says "represent" across it, what does that mean? Represent what?anybody know?

It's a pop-culture phrase - "Represent" is used a little like the word is normally used in conversation. Example:
Two guys in Los Angeles meet at a convention. One asks the other where he's from.
"I'm from Chicago."
"Oh yeah? I'm also from Chicago."
"Woo, Chicago! Represent."
In terms of that t-shirt, the Turtles are representing the awesomeness that is TMNT. It's hard to explain, I guess. :embarass:

Oh god another Hot Topic shirt....a moron at my school bought that shirt and wears it all the time because he thinks it makes him look cool. I laugh at him all the time because he doesnt even like Ninja Turtles. Go di hate Hot Topic its the ultimate poser store
"Represent" means "Show your loyalty".

I've never liked that shirt. It's overly 'aged', and it makes the Turtles look downright creepy. :dead:

My girlfriend got that shirt for me. I love it...its classic TMNT!
And yeah I hate how just because people see something at Hot Topic for instance, they have to buy it even if they don't like it. There was this girl at my school that was wearing a TMNT shirt. It was from the old cartoon by the way. And I went up to her and asked her if she saw the new show and she said she hated it, and then I said if she ever read the comics, and she had no idea that there even were comics. I hate it when people wear that stuff when they have no idea or don't even really like it. They just wear it because they think it is "vintage".

This isn't the hot topic shirt. I got this from kohl's, i don't know if it's a national chain store. It wasn't from the cartoon either, it was out of a comic. it looks like some of lawson's old work
anyway thanks for help everybody, i didn't want to go and wear it until i knew what it meant

I didn't know Kohl's sold that stuff too. I haven't been there for ten years, besides. ^^;
I got my new Ninja Turtle threads at 80stees.com. Once I saw the one with "Splinter's Dojo" on the front, I had to have it. I love my Turtles tees.

LOL I didn't buy that one! I have tons of TMNT Shirts...but mostly now all new toon and whatever i bought at Hot Topic.
I don't wear TMNT shirts. They clash with my flannel.

They should make a 'Benvenuto' T-shirt. 8)
No. YOU should make one. I'm sure we'd all wear it. Even me.

Actually, the Kohl's one is a bit different, I believe. I've seen both, and the Kohl's one isn't as aged, and has a different picture, if I recall correctly.

Is this one different than the one you found at Kohl's?

Just cause it's vintage don't mean it's cool...and just cause it's hot topic don't mean it sucks.... Two sides of the same coin.
I need a new series shirt >___> I've got an old series one (and yes it was from hot topic XD) very cartoony...similar to the old series dvd cover. And no prefading, I can fade my own shirts ^_^
I run into old show elitists a lot... elitists who don't even know what they're talking about...they remember some of the old show, but are oblivious to the comics existing and they'd get the clothes before they'd get the DVDs. I haven't even read the comics but I still know they exist o_O; shouldn't be THAT much of a surprise. But it's also sad that people don't like the new show just because it's different from the original ):

Good lord, that IS horrible.

I'm gonna have to bloody well make one on my own. No problem. I can make a better one than they would likely produce, anyways.

I don't like that "Represent" shirt. Why buy a shirt that looks like it's beat up? :-?
I bought two TMNT shirts recently, one from the old and new show. I bought a green shirt that has the old TMNT logo on it, and a gray shirt that has all four turtles on it, new show style. I don't like Hot Topic, but I go there solely for the Family Guy, Nintendo and TMNT Shirts because I ACTUALLY enjoy, watch, play and know about those things!!! I see kids in my school with a shirt from Hot Topic like you people have, and they just put it for the heck of it. I loved the old show growing up, I love the new show, and I'm starting to read the Mirage Comics. (Sadly, I didn't know about them until one or two years ago.) The same goes for FG and Nintendo. I enjoy and know about them!
You might say I'm "representing" myself. :P

I have a lot of tmnt T's...including the represent one.(my mom bought it for me) I like it, and I wear it occasionaly. They only make new tmnt shirts for kids, well..because it's a kids show. I can fit into a kids large no problem. Just remember that a kids large =(almost) an adult small. And if you wear medium, you can probobly fit into a small shirt. Just try it.

Hey, spill the details what did it look like...? Like what pose was he in, how big was the pic, was it true to the old toon design?
Sorry, I just would like to keep my eye out for something like that if it is still in circulation at all.

It looked like he was drawn in comic form (black and white), with his arms criss-crossed against his chest, flashing his blades. The word "Shredder" was underneath him, and I believe the letters were in red. I think that's what it looked like anyway.

My friend went to Hot Topic and bought this god awful Old school ninja Turtles jacket. He started wearing it all the time and I noticed he started having more friends. Later I asked him if he even likes Ninja Turtles and he tells me "Hell no that shows for kids" This yet again proves my point that Hot Topic is a poser store. Not only do they ruin Ninja Turtles and just about eveything else that they find it needed to put on a shirt but they ruin bands I like to. There are so many kids now of days that buy Slayer and Iron Maiden shirts and then assume their hardcore. Over half of the kids who wear the shirts dont like the band they just wear it because they think it makes them look bad ass. That kinda crap angers me. Thats now why I only buy Tshirts online and only for bands that only me and the people I tell know about. I also buy concert shirts.

I have to disagree with you on some points about Hot Topic. I really love that store. I listen to heavy metal so i am happy to find shirts with my bands on it and Inuyasha shirts! I buy some of the jewelry too! I liked the old school shirts that they put out too. I am glad that HT Is around.

That sounds awesome, Rahzar. I WANT ONE!!
Sigh.
I have nothing against Hot Topic (okay, maybe one thing, but that's another story), though I'd like it more if the merchandise wasn't so expensive. You can't really blame a store for the kind of customers it attracts, after all. Unfortunately, if a store finds out that a certain group has taken to them, they would probably try to cater to that specific group more.
As for the "Represent" shirt, I have one similar to that. Same artwork, just arranged differently, with the first movie logo. And if it looks beat up it's because it really is 14 years old...

Im glad your Hot Topic actually sells metal shirt. Sadly all mine sells are shirts for Emo bands, punk bands, and then the rest is 80s music and some amercian metal. I dont listen to Slipknot, Disturbed, White Zombie, Marilyn Manson and all that other Amercian stuff. The only Heavy Meatl band shirt Ive seen at Hot Topic was a Cradel Of Flith one and I dont like that band....
