I just found This picture on a Transformers website, that were taken at a convention where DW was present. Notice in the banner, that there is a pic of the TMNT. Now, I don't think it is an old banner, because it also has a pic showcasing the new TF V G.I Joe comics.

So, is Dreamwave going to revive the new TMNT series? Damn, i hope so! :D

Looks interesting. Personally I couldn't understand why they cancelled the DW series as I was quite enjoying it. Hopefully things will start up again.

The GI Joe/ TF comics aren't exactly "new" they started around the same time the TMNT comics started, if not earlier.

DW is not reviving the series. However, it's still something they published, so they're allowed to advertise that. The banner is the same one they had up at Comic-Con in 2003.

Yeah, I know, I meant vol 2 of the G.I Joe V TF :)
I know they still have the right to showcase the TMNT stuff, but what would really be the point of showing off an old comic series, that only had 7 issues and got canned?
Don't get me wrong though, I loved the DW TMNT comcis :D

Dreamwave really flubbed up by getting rid of their turtles series.
Oh well, at least we've still got Vol. 4 and Tales.

Well, that artwork is from Vol 1.

What would be the point? How about not paying to get a new banner made.

Only if they actually attempted to create a storyline of interest. Let's face it the DW series was dull and offered little. I did like the art though. If they were to continue the line they'd really have to overhaul it and put some effort into it. That would involve stepping away from the series and writing continuing and interesting stories. Even the "original stories" that they wrote for the book were VERY weak.
Personally I'd like to see an "Ultimate-esque" TMNT. A restart of their story but with room for changes in the story. In a sense the new show IS this, but I'd like to see it in uncensored comic book form.

I think LeSean's artwork is a bit overrated at this board. Peter David was awesome, though. Even the issues that were based on episodes of the cartoon, he told from a different perspective that offered more insight and made the comics worthwhile for stories we already knew.

Anyone can tell a story from a different perspective and Peter David did a great job doing it, if by great you mean boring as hell, then yes very great. LeSean wasn't the BEST, but he's so much better than what we were used to (Jim Lawson, not dissing Lawson, but face it his style is either hit or miss with people). Peter David did have enough soul in the project and it really showed. I heard he only picked it up because his kids like tmnt, that's no reason to write a book. I would much rather have a fan of the series write it, becuase then they know what we want and what we want to read, not some garbage about some ghetto kid from the perspective of a fat white guy.

That was my exact opinion of the Dreamwave TMNT. LeSean's art was the ONLY reason I bought that series. I didn't say anything because I think it's pretty damn shallow to only like a comic for the art and not give a rat's ass about the story.

And in regards to LeSean's art I wasn't particularly impressed by it. ANd judging by the way he runs the Artxilla forums, his personality isn't very impressive either.
But eh.
Whoa, Speng. You think LeS is a jerk? How so? I've spoken to him on multiple occassions, and it blew my mind that not only was he willing to talk to me, but he talked a lot. I've mentioned before that he was to me the Bruce Lee of drawing, not because his style tops all others, but because of the way his mind works. He's a very deep thinker and philosophical about everything. Truly one impressive man.
...And he freakin' loves Street Fighter.

I used to lurk on his messageboard. It's complicated, but he tends to blame "whitey" for a lot of his short-comings in the comic industry. Even worse, the people on his board support that view. But I'm just disappointed in anyone who uses the race card.
I won't go on anymore about it, as discussions about race always lead to trouble regardless of intentions (and I don't want to derail the thread). I was just very disappointed in him.
In regards to his art, he has talent. I was impressed with his work on Street Fighter. I'm not big on his style, especially in TMNT. I dunno, it had a Humberto Ramos of Francisco Herera quality to it and I don't typically like that kind of art. It's a matter of taste, really. I prefer comic art that isn't "goofy". Art like Ian Churchill's or, in a blander way, Jim Lee's and Romita Jr's are really my type.
LeSean calls it "soul" but it just doesn't do anything for me. His work in the Street Fighter back-up story impressed me as it wasn't nearly as goofy as his other work.
I know he's a registered member here, but the only post of his I've ever read was him advertising for his own work.

I kind of liked it when they were made directly from the episodes. But I also thoroughly enjoyed the original plots as well.

Nah, Peter David just was'nt experianced enough with the Turtles, if the Archie writers had been working on it, it would've been a little better rather than drag on aimlessly

I bought the DW TMNT and enjoyed it for what it was, the art was good and much different from the Mirage style I didnt mind the writing I didnt find it to be particularly boring or anything.
In all honesty I was looking to get into comics, (TMNT comics) I had a few issues of TMNT the First published Book I color graphic novel which I really liked from when I was younger. I discovered a local comic shop when looking for the DW/Mirage books and thats when I bought the DW books I got the first 4 I believe and enjoyed them. I then ordered the first 10 issues of vol 4 among a couple other books from Mirage and bought back issues. It was mainly probably the new show that got me interested in the comics and reading lots of the synopsis on the official site. (I wanted to get into them but never really realized we have a couple comic shops in town)
Since then I have collected just about all the graphic novels (the ones that count for me) The Mirage color ones, plus the black and white ones (I prefer them in b&w although the first issue is awesome in color imo) along with most of the actual issues. All the Eastman and Laird books they co worked on 1-20somthing plus Return to NY, City at war and some other issues.
About Jim Lawsons work, I thought Return to NY has had some of the best art in a TMNT book which Jim Lawson did the pencils for although with the layouts were done by Easman and Laird also the inking by Laird, Talbot and Easman helped a lot. I also liked the first Tales books that I have managed to find Lawson did the pencils for those along with Ryan Brown I believe which where also quite good. I have enjoyed most of his art work although its quite nice for a change I would love to see Peter Laird do an issue for Tales as I really liked his style. (I know Lawson also did vol 2 but I havent read it all yet so I wont judge it)
I have also got into several marvel books mainly Spider-man USM, MKSM, ASM and some other stand alone story's ie Powerless, Venom Vs Carnage among others. I enjoy the other books but its always a treat having the Mirage books especially when you dont know when they come out all the time as they are not usually on diamonds list.
Any who back on topic and to my point, the DW comic was probably the one that got me interested I liked the art the glossy pages at the time and the adaptions from the new show were fairly good and kept me interested until I got into the original books. :) I loved finally reading through all of the issues 1-13 plus the micro series when I finally got the collected book I as I had missed a handful of books as its hard to find the single issues.

The story is exactly the same as the shows, by buying the comic I assume you have seen the first few episodes and therefore you dont really need a full blown explanation of everything since you know what happens as it is. I havnt had a chance to read the "new" stories just yet but so far the others havnt bothered me to much, though the other seires are way better. I do enough the art however

Pick up issues 5,6, and 7, trust me, you'll like em, i think it sucks tho they never let #8 out and yet they left 7 as a pretty much cliffhanger...i liked how they dide the issue 1 and 2(and i think 3) from a different eye, IE 1 was from the cops eyes pretty much and 2 i believe was from april's eyes...but had they continued, i think it would have been a big hit, cause it was tied if not better than the later archie issues, cause it shows deeper inside themselves like one issue shows raph havin to choose right from wrong, to go against his normal will or to follow his normal ways, i thought it was good and had a friggin good shot at being a strong series, only downfall was that people looked at the first 4 issues and said "ah, ill just watch the cartoon cause its the same" but then it quickly took a new direction and a very good one. So those who havent read 5,6, and 7 based on their views of 1-4, i feel sorry for ya actually, but trust me, if ya've not read those last 3 issues, then go pick em up, cause their worth it.
